Unfortunately for him, they don't give a shit.

Awesome card tonight on Fox, after Sage smashes this can, the last 3 fights are all very good.

**** Aldo. Maybe he should have lasted more tan 13 seconds in the first fight.

BREAKING: Karate Fighter has problems with grappling.

He's young, he'll need to find a good bjj gym.

alnorth 01-30-2016 08:55 PM

and, Rumble keeps on smashing. He's getting close to earning another title shot

He could be a player in 3 different divisions.

Jerm 01-30-2016 11:49 PM

Lol Sage quick tapping to a arm triangle from half guard...what a clown. Another UFC hype train derailed.

Good, easy win for Rumble...man really want to see him and Bones fight. I think that'd be a super interesting fight.

alnorth 01-31-2016 12:30 AM

If you are on twitter, @UFCFIGHTERSINFO is worth following. Its a bot account that periodically checks the UFC roster and immediately notifies followers when it detects that someone is signed or cut.

Here's the numbers for the current roster, which shows how shallow fly/HW/LHW and the women's divisions are, and that LW and WW are the shark tanks:

The number of UFC fighters
Welter 111
Light 109
Feather 71
Bantam 62
Middle 59
Light Heavy 39
Heavy 38
Fly 34
— UFCFIGHTERSiNFO (@UFCFIGHTERSiNFO) January 30, 2016

They need to cut the Men's flyweight division.

Do it now.

Disagree. If Mighty Mouse did not exist, I might agree with it, but as long as he's there, he needs to be supported and appreciated.

alnorth 01-31-2016 07:42 PM

This is awesome. USADA showed up at Mighty Mouse's house while he was streaming on twitch.

Barring a very surprising short-notice change, we won't have a title fight in February, so updated title history for next month.

frankotank 02-01-2016 09:58 AM

I cracked up at the guy who beat Sage doing the somersault after the fight.

boy....he sure did tap fast. almost like....he wasn't even trying....

He apparently panicked, and his ground game is a lot worse than expected.

I am not a BJJ expert at all, and I can't always tell a "bad tap", though Rogan clearly was shocked by it. However, from reading the comments of a lot of jiu-jitsu experts on the internet, tapping out in that situation is a rookie white belt move, and whoever gave him his purple belt should be embarrassed.

alnorth 02-01-2016 12:51 PM

Benson Henderson has signed with Bellator. He's said he wants to retire with the UFC, but right now he wants to be paid and Bellator offered him more money.

alnorth 02-02-2016 07:22 PM

http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/2/2/...luding-bans-on

The CSAC just passed a lot of "emergency" weight-cutting rules for fights in California. They pretty much did everything they could to ban dehydration for weight-cutting. The new rules go into effect on March 1st.

IV rehydrating is banned, so that will impact all promotions for the state, not just the UFC. (If its medically necessary, they might give a waiver, but the IV can't be for rehydrating, and if you need an IV for another medical reason you probably wont be allowed to fight)

Also, the CSAC will test urine for signs of dehydration (unclear if this is just the day of weigh-ins), if you fail the test you get 2-3 hours to try to rehydrate. If you fail the test again or the doctor sees signs of dehydration, the bout will be called off. The CSAC is also giving promotions and fighters the ability to move weigh-ins back up to 30 hours before the event. In the future, they will look into possibly moving weigh ins to 72 hours before the event.

alnorth 02-02-2016 07:30 PM

In other news, Hendricks is no longer fat. He lost a lot of weight and looks pretty good. If he keeps that up, he should no longer have issues making 170

He looked gassed mid first round

alnorth 02-02-2016 08:28 PM

Henderson said the UFC's contract offer was 3rd behind Bellator and ONE. It wasn't just about base pay and sponsorships, Bellator also offered him other fringe benefits, and granted him permission to participate in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu tournaments.

alnorth 02-02-2016 09:42 PM

The UFC signed some interesting Russian LHW prospect...... and USADA pops him before he can even make his debut. ROFL

I think the Reebok deal is going to **** over the UFC in signing fighters from other decent orgs in the next few years, in addition to fighters leaving because of it.

Sponsors are critical to the lower-mid tier guys who don't get bonuses.

They will probably lose some higher-level fighters who the UFC wants but doesn't badly want. They can still pay the champion and the top 2 or 3 contenders a lot of money in each division, but below that, you are either accepting less money hoping to break through, or you realize you wont get there and take more money with a 2nd-tier promotion.

alnorth 02-03-2016 07:51 PM

Wow, Tim Means got popped by USADA. He's supposed to fight Cowboy in the main event for the Pittsburgh card in 2.5 weeks. UFC has to find a short-notice opponent for Cowboy.

alnorth 02-03-2016 08:51 PM

Chris Weidman is getting an immediate rematch against Rockhold, in June.

When you look around at the ruined, barren wasteland that is the middleweight division, it probably makes sense.

alnorth 02-03-2016 10:29 PM

Tim Means tested positive for Ostarine

Jerm 02-04-2016 09:05 AM

So I got to thinking...we got Conor/RDA, Holm/Tate, Bones/Cormier, Rockhold/Weidman II, and now the HW title fight all before UFC 200...

What the hell are they gonna have for that show lol? I mean I guess you could turn some of these guys around quickly for fights on that show but that would be cutting it awfully close.

Probably Silva/Rock if he beats Bisping and passes the drug test. I could also see GSP returning and Conor possibly fighting.

Conor wants to fight 3-4 times a year (and probably has to if he beats RDA), so probably Conor/Edgar.

Jerm 02-04-2016 09:48 AM

I guess a lot just depends on medical suspensions...

alnorth 02-04-2016 07:41 PM

Alex "Cowboy" Oliveira is replacing Tim Means to fight Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone on 2/21

Loser has to change their nickname?

alnorth 02-05-2016 12:37 PM

USADA said they now have a new test which can detect HGH within 21 days. Currently they can only detect some forms of HGH within a few hours.

If this is true, a lot of fighters could get popped.

ChiliConCarnage 02-06-2016 08:16 PM

Derrick Lewis doesn't seem real smart.

This is an official press release from a real MMA promotion. Conveniently, they focus only on the DUI charges, and ignore the 2 domestic assault charges, assault of a police officer, etc.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but yeah I probably am. Bellator needs to keep signing good fighters who become free agents like Benson Henderson, because right now they are a circus sideshow.

Lol I was waiting for you to admit it first but I already had the dvr set. Lol

alnorth 02-19-2016 08:28 PM

This card was already a joke, but the fix might be in for the co-main event. Sportsbooks have either stopped accepting bets or severely restricted them for the Kimbo Slice vs Dada 5000 fight. A few people bet a ton of money on Dada 5000, who was a very big underdog.

Does he get to use the sledgehammer? I'd bet big on him if he did.

I wouldn't go that far. They've got some quality fighters, and put on some good fights. Tonight though....yeah....you right.

alnorth 02-19-2016 10:22 PM

This fight is hilariously terrible. Classic trashweight fight, both fighters were gassed after 3 minutes in the first round.

alnorth 02-19-2016 10:27 PM

This fight is disgraceful

TimBone 02-19-2016 10:28 PM

I've never seen John McCarthy this angry before. Kimbo was stood up from full mount because he was too tired to punch, just sat on him gasping.

What a disgrace, both were complete slobs that have no more business in the ring than two drunk longshoremen.

I've seen longshoremen fight, it was better.

They are stalling and shut off the lights in the arena because they are still working on Dada in the cage.

Texas Athletic Commission will have to explain why they sanctioned that mess.

GloryDayz 02-19-2016 10:52 PM

OMG!

alnorth 02-19-2016 10:56 PM

lol, apparently Texas allows you to decline hand wraps. Gracie refused hand wraps, so he pretty much can't punch.

edit: hammer fists are fine though

alnorth 02-19-2016 10:58 PM

lol, Shamrock, we have slow-mo replay, stop lying.

edit: nm, Bellator is incompetent.

GloryDayz 02-19-2016 10:59 PM

LOL, that's low!

alnorth 02-19-2016 11:00 PM

This has been an absurd nightmare for Spike TV. They deserve it for putting together such a stupid card, sure they got ratings tonight, but it probably just convinced a lot of casual fans that Bellator is a bad product.

GloryDayz 02-19-2016 11:03 PM

Thar was simply amazing in its terribleness.

alnorth 02-19-2016 11:06 PM

If you have UFC fight pass, you can cleanse your brain of that abomination, they have 2 fights left out of a small Iowa MMA promotion.

Interesting note, they are also testing out new eye poke rules that are being considered for the unified rules of MMA.
