Chiefs/Arrowhead New Code of Conduct. No standing during the game.

Looks like the "wine and cheeseing" of the "New" Arrowhead patrons continues.

CHIEFS FAN CODE OF CONDUCT
The Kansas City Chiefs are committed to creating a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience for our fans. When attending a game, the stadium staff will proactively intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests and other fans can enjoy the event, free from the following behaviors:

• Foul, obscene, offensive or abusive language or actions
Standing and/or obstructing the view of other fans
• Intoxication or other signs of impairment
• Smoking except in designated areas
• Fighting and unruly or inconsiderate behavior
• Obscene or indecent clothing or signs
• Conduct that endangers spectators or participants
• Harassment of visiting team fans
• Interfering with the progress of the game, going onto the field or
throwing any object onto the field
• Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel
• Selling items or tickets in the stadium or on sports complex grounds
• Attempting to sit in a location other than the guest’s ticketed seat
• Destroying property

Good luck enforcing that one...

I'm all for making it a good experience...that can be a bit heavy handed if over done but I can assure you some moron who never sits in front of you can screw up a game day experience. I hear they are going to beef up the language efforts as well.

OnTheWarpath15 06-28-2008 09:40 AM

I'll say this: They are doing their damnedest to push out the hardcore fan and replace them with wine/cheesers/corporate types.

The problem is that KC doesn't have the corportate power to sell out an 80K stadium every Sunday. They'll need all the hardcore fans they can get - alienating them isn't going to get them very far...

No fighting? WTF?

That's what I was thinking.

Sounds like Carl is trying to kill the only real positive thing he helped to build.

FuK that. No way you tell someone to sit down and quit yelling/cheering on their team. You can sit down at halftime/

tomahawk kid 06-28-2008 09:43 AM

I wonder if some of those haven't been on the books for awhile now, and just haven't been enforced........

Dartgod 06-28-2008 09:46 AM

They've always had a rule (more of a guideline) against continuous standing. Nothing new here.

irishjayhawk 06-28-2008 09:46 AM

Don't like it? Take your business elsewhere..

Oh, this isn't the dress code thread?

Chiefs Pantalones 06-28-2008 09:47 AM

This rule has always been in place. They can't kick 79,000 people out of the game when it's 3rd and 10 and the game is on the line.

And that's a lot of stadiums.

Really? Why have a rule on the books thats not enforced? Just to use as an excuse to remove someone for whatever reason?

I've never, evah saw a fan told by an usher to sit down.

Yep. I worked for security at Arrowhead for 5 seasons and that rule has always been in place. It usually is that one asshole that stands during the whole game blocking everyone's view.

I had to tell alot of people to sit down.

Isn't there a website that shows you historic pages from past years? I'd be curious if this was new or just an ignored rule.

It's there so if some jagoff stands the whole game when no one else is standing.

Haven't you ever heard the announcement before every game? They mention the continuous standing rule, no abusive language and some other crap to "improve the gameday experience" for everyone.

It's all a bunch of blah, blah, blah....

People don't care if you stand up they only care if you stand up the whole game. Hell I had to tell this one guy to sit down because he stood up all through halftime and timeouts and I swear people were ready to throw him off the upper level.

Both, and then when the play was over the security dude shrugged at them. Due to me being compliant, and realizing I wasn't drunk asshole.

I don't see that ever being enforced. If you wear the other teams jersey into the stadium you will always get harassed. It doesn't mean fans need to throw sh*t at you or call you every name in the book, but you should always expect to take a good ribbing especially if you are a fan of one our rivals.

This rule sounds like it is obviously directed at people who are just standing all game long and blocking other people's views, not at people who are standing to cheer...

Holy cow dude. What crawled up your ass? This argument is valid. Who the **** under 90 years old goes to a game to NOT cheer. I'm pretty sure people don't go for the cheap beer. Shit, if you go to a HIGH SCHOOL game, most of the people stand most of the time.

Really? I've had endzone seat in the lower level, and they tend to stand quite a bit, but everytime I've had seats between the 40s I get yelled at if I stand.... but that's all been in the last 10 years or so. Sadly, the upper deck has been the same way the past several years... I remember getting yelled at for standing during the SNF game against the Bills when we were 8-0, and we were sitting in the first few rows of the upper deck. But, I've never had anyone bitch to security.

Back in the day, after walking 6 miles up hill in 3 feet of snow just to get there, we would stand for the entire game at Bearcat Stadium! Except junior year when we had a room in the South Complex and could watch the game from our room. That was cool. :)

The point continues to be missed.

THIS IS NOT A NEW RULE. And for that matter, where is it being said that the Chiefs plan to enforce this rule any harder than they have in the past?

Here's what happened: BigRedChief went to the Chiefs' site, saw the list of stadium conduct rules, went "WHAT?! I AM OUTRAGED~!", and started a thread where he used the word "new" in the title as if this rule has just been added.

And a bunch of people have fallen for it.

That's the college atmosphere they talk about... opening day against the Colts, the first post-DT game, we were in the 5th row on the 40, getting yelled at for standing on 3rd down. :shake:

I haven't been to a game in Arrowhead in years, but foul language is just something that comes along with watching the Chiefs play football. If they don't want it to happen, they should get a better team for the fans to watch.

You're exactly right, but the atmosphere has been replaced with BS, but not because of this rule. The Chiefs have found other ways, like raising ticket prices every year while not winning a playoff game in 59 years.

That's not necessarily the point I'm trying to make, though. To me, this is more about the fans than the organization.

Someone else said it best in an earlier post:

They've always mentioned it before the game, but it seems that NOW, people are actually listening.

The biggest problem with your intoxication is that you miss half the damn game because you're standing in line to piss. IIRC you missed two touchdowns and a field goal during a single trip to the can during that Rams game we went to. :D

Two ****ing Dante Hall returns and a FG.

Infuriating.

Shouldn't be a problem this year with the smaller crowds.

Or for that matter, the lack of scoring.

I don't know how Arrowhead is, but I have lower level seats with the Jets, and if I have to piss frequently I sneak up to the mezzanine level or ''club level'' where there's less people and take a piss up there. no line and it's faster.

CHIEFS FAN CODE OF CONDUCT

Standing and/or obstructing the view of other fans

I think you guys are misinterpreting this rule.

It's not a rule against "Standing".

It's a rule against "Standing and possibly obstructing someone else's view", be it standing, blocking with arms, etc.

Additionally, why is it that when rules are put in place, it's because the "wealthy" patrons are demanding such changes?

Are you telling me that citizens that aren't wealthy are only capable of acting like a bunch of animals?

Captain Obvious 06-28-2008 02:22 PM

This is as much a new rule as the Royals and Cardinals aren't a rivalry.

This is as much a new rule as the Royals and Cardinals aren't a rivalry.

You forgot to add..........accept it and move on.

I have to see this. 80,000 Chiefs fans sitting nicely in their seats, sipping tea, with their napkins in their laps, and saying things like, "Good show, that."

Ths is a reeruned ****ing post, and I'm not surprised that BigRedBleedingVagina started it...

This rule sounds like it is obviously directed at people who are just standing all game long and blocking other people's views, not at people who are standing to cheer...

Some people really need to find a hobby besides imagining slights and playing victim...

I would suggest that you put me on ignore.

If that doesn't work for you I post a map on where to find me at a Chiefs game. Makes it real easy for you to say that to my face. We can then discuss your issues with me.

Are you going to fold him up and put him in a shoe box? I want to watch.

I think you guys are misinterpreting this rule.

It's not a rule against "Standing".

It's a rule against "Standing and possibly obstructing someone else's view", be it standing, blocking with arms, etc.

It says standing and/or obstructing, not standing and obstructing. Logically this means all you have to do is to stand to be in violation. It's also pretty hard to stand without obstructing somebody's view. There are always those people who really do want to sit for 99% of the game.

I'm a stander, I think more people should try it. If they want to make a rule about standing, it should be no LATE standing, meaning the guy who waits to leap to his feet until the ball is in the air over and over. That can get old. If he would have stood prior to the play, I would be happy to stand as well and we'd all get to see the play without spilling our beers.

Hell, I just do what the crowd dictates. If the dominos fall my way, I will be standing. When the people in front of me start to sit down, I sit. Pretty simple.

If somebody behind me bitches that I am standing, I refer them to the thousands in front of me.

Well, I think Chiefs Front Office should clarify this rule because I can't imagine that they want their fans to be glued to their seat when they've got an offense in 3rd and long.

Unnecessary standing and obstruction, I can totally understand. But without standing and cheering in critical situations, wouldn't the "home field advantage" be nullified?

If uncoordinated, unorganized standing bothers you, do not attend a Catholic liturgy attended by a group of elderly people. You'll go mad.

That's exactly what I do.

The only thing that drives me nuts is the people that bring signs begging the camera for their 5 seconds of fame. Signs should be banned. Damn attention whores.

ChiTown 06-28-2008 04:16 PM

hmm

Well, the one thing they won't have to control is the noise level in 08. Should be pretty quiet for all the Sandy Giner's sitting at Arrowhead with their wine coolers watching the Chiefs get their ass beat. I'd suspect we're going to see 1985 type crowds this year.

Yeah, but I find a lot of times it's kind of a mix, which leads to whining. I'm like you for the most part, I usually just go with the domino. Unless it's 3rd down or 4th and they're going for it. Then I usually figure it's an obvious standing situation.

What about the wave? Don't you have to stand to make a wave?
