Relo Back to KC
I think I would like to move back to KC and raise my kids there. Education system in Arizona is a fracking joke. Same for politics out here as well. Weather is nice but there are just some things more important than sunny conditions year round. Without any smart-ass jokes what is the job market and housing market like in KC? ;)

You better be moving to the Kansas side or you will find out what's worse than a joke of an education system.

I hear there's good money to be made down by the docks...

If I were 'FORCED' to move back to KC, i'd probably just go ahead and sell drugs.

Seriously though, if you're looking IT, it seems to be opening up a bit more... not sure how much better/worse than it is compared to the rest of the country though. There are obviously still a lot of applicants out there, but I've at least seen more jobs posted in the past few months.
It's a buyer's market for housing just about everywhere, right? As far as school, the MO side isn't bad if you go north to like Park Hill, and I'm sure Lee's Summit and Blue Springs are good districts. |

The minorities are bring those down... give it 10 years and it'll be Grandview East. Keeping it real. You trying to get back while I'm trying to get out. I guess everywhere is the same... Same shit. Different toilet. Is it only the SD's that encouraged you to come back? |

Just move to Olathe, that way you have the good schools and good weather.

Also, I think there's legislation in the works that's somehow allowing kids form other failing districts to attend other schools in other districts. |

My son's graduating class will have 94.6% of all 1400+ students attend college. Some have academic scholorships to West Point, Harvard, Oxford, Stanford etc. No complaints from me. |

Anythings better than AZ in my opinion. I would do it.

I grew up in da hood... 91st and James A Reed. It was quite the culture shock going from Ervin Jr High in the Hickman Mills district to Lakeview Middle School in Park Hill.

"Actually I've heard Park Hill is pretty terrible now. That Barry Road/I-29 area overall has taken a bit of a hit the last decade in my eyes."
I disagree. We moved into the district 2 1/2 years ago just for the schools, and it's been great. My son will start high school next year, so we'll see then if it holds up. As for the overall area, it's become a traffic nightmare and is a major pain in the ass with Zona Rosa, but I don't see it reflected in the neighborhood yet. Yeah, there's been some minorities move in, but there's still no swimming pools in the driveways, so all's good so far. |

This thread is nostaligic. |
I live in Plano, TX now but we lived in Olathe before that. I think the housing market is very reasonable in Olathe, and I think the schools are excellent. I've lived in D.C., upstate NY, Atlanta, Northern Virginia, Central PA, Houston, and now the Dallas area, and I think without a doubt Johnson County is the best place to raise a family.

Arizona is hella expensive. My fiancee' and I live in Flagstaff and it's absurd. We plan on moving to Colorado after she graduates from nursing school, but I have a good job here that pays well but we wanna be in the middle so it's close to both of our families.
Before I moved out here I have never seen and met so many indians in my life, coming from Missouri. Just like whites and blacks, some are rude, some aren't. I'm so used to just whites and blacks it's a culture shock lol. I never came in contact with people with last names such as (I promise, I'm not kidding)... Cowboy Greymountain Longacre Manygoats And that's just a few lol. Where I'm from, I'm not used to it. It's kind of uncomfortable. |
Lots of houses for sale in my area, 5 within 2 blocks. I suspect they are fairly open to offers. Lee's Summit but Blue Springs School District.

This thread does bring back memories... I lived behind O'Hara, within walking distance of Dobbs, Broadview Christian Church, Robandee... Went to Annie's Santa Fe in Bannister Mall quite a bit with my parents... |
