Want (more) proof that the NBA officiating is the worst in all of Pro Sports?
 

Good lord, I've had trouble going back to bed. I was on Youtube just watching all of these horrible NBA no-calls whether its fouls, traveling, and one where the ref argues with Allen Iverson then T's him up for....wait for it....."bringing the crowd down." I dont even know what the hell that ****ing means. LOL.


1. Iverson T'd up for "Brining the crowd down. Then Larry Brown (then with 76's) gets T'd up for nothing right afterwards.

2. Worst foul call ever. Didn't know you could shoot free throws for "getting fouled" by your own teammate?!?!

Good stuff, Mr. Tango & Mr. Cash. Not anything particularly out of the ordinary, though. Except maybe for Coach K kissing wood in public.

The NBA is, by far, the most poorly officiated professional sport of all times although, of late, the NFL is giving them a run for their money. After watching the Olympics, I've decided that the NBA needs to consider hiring some of those Curling officials. Those dudes know how to just let the guys play the game. It's almost as though they aren't even there.

Calling a game exactly how you're instructed to by the league is good officiating.

Suppose the first ref got any kind of punishment after the audio came out?

I blame David Stern. He's let these assholes get away with it for years.

Isn't that Dick Bevetta? They TV announcers are always praising that guy as one of "the best". That, obviously, wasn't his best performance.

In #2, that ref should have been fired immediately after that game.

On vid #3, the only thing I see wrong is the kick call. The first guy flopped (good non-call) and I didn't see any real foul on the scramble for the loose ball.

On #4 it was hard to tell if he just didn't get a good grip when he tried to catch the pass. If that was the case, it was not double dribble.

The last 2 of Duke traveling are obvious. How can a ref possibly miss something so obvious? :doh!:

Looks like Bennett Salvatore who has a reputation of making poor calls in the playoffs. IIRC he was at the center of the Miami - Dallas finals a few years ago.

Yup those refs did whatever they could to make sure the Mavs didn' get a ring. It was their ultimate **** you to Mark Cuban.

Basket ball sucks, who cares?

The NBA does, anyhow. At least, in my opinion, Mr. chiefforlife. It's thugball so far as I'm concerned. It barely resembles the game James Naismith invented. It's like something else entirely. Fouls on practically every possession, allowing 7 steps to the basket, offense comprised of dunks and 3 pointers followed by more dunks and 3 pointers ... I much prefer the college game, although as time passes, it's getting just as bad.

This is all old stuff. Its gotten and will continue to get better. Since Donaghy theyve done a lot better job. Having said that, Miami deserves a huge Asterisk next to its name.

I read some transcripts from Tim Donaghy's book (the former NBA ref who did jail time due to gambling, etc.).

He spoke at great lenght about how all the refs hated Iverson and he got "jobbed" almost on a nightly basis....he said they would laugh about how hard he would get hacked without them calling fouls.

Another one that blew my mind.....they (the ref crew for a game) would wager on who would blow their whistle first in a game (for a foul, not out of bounds, etc.).....the first person to blow their whistle, had to pay the ball-boy fees and pay dinner for the ref crew later that night.

So minute after minute would go by with unbelievable hacking going on without any fouls...

He also talked about the star treatment and how the league instructed them to find the nearest player and assign that guy with a foul (rather than Jordan, Kobe, etc. picking up their 5th or 6th)
The NBA is dirty and "fixed" (almost as dirty as SEC officials!!) :)
