Well now the Cards won't have to deal with him in the division. And don't have to deal with Braun for 50 games either.

Now just gotta get rid of Votto and we are good to go.

jd1020 01-22-2012 10:21 PM

The rest of the division doesn't have to deal with Pujols any more.

Division 1 - Cardinals 0

I definitely did not want him in the NL East.

You might want a more credible source on this than an unknown guy who pretended he worked as a blogger for a Latin American sports network called PioDeportes and then changed his Twitter name to "MLBInsideNews" to gain more credibility on Twitter.

Beltran is a shell of what he used to be. I doubt anyone's too scared.

O.city 01-22-2012 10:33 PM

Beltran had a better year last year than Pujols! I read it on CP.

jd1020 01-22-2012 10:34 PM

We'll also see how bad/good Tony La Russa was.

Frazod 01-22-2012 10:36 PM

Meh. I'll miss Pujols. I'll REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY miss Dave Duncan.

LaRussa? Not so much.

Taking a year off because of his wife's cancer is the official line, IIRC.

But with his buddy Tony gone, I seriously doubt he'll be back.

The guy is a ****ing genius - like Frankenstein putting good pitchers together out of the spare parts of bad ones. And I'll never forget in Game 7, where Carpenter was getting lit up early - Duncan went out to the mound, said something to him, and he was lights out for the rest of the game. Don't know what he said, but it clearly worked.

Al Bundy 01-22-2012 10:41 PM

I read lips. He said, awkwardly enough sounding like Tom Beringer, "If you don't win this game I'm going to cut your balls off and stuff em down your ****ing throat."

Spot on....if Duncan isn't back the pitching staff is taking a HUGE downgrade.

I felt the same way when Leo Mazzone left for Baltimore and was replaced with McDowell. It actually turned out well for Atl, as Mazzone is now out of the game and McDowell and he has a damn good starting staff.

scho63 01-23-2012 06:18 AM

If this is true, now my $12 dixie cup sized mixed drink will now cost me $15....

The Nationals stadium have the most obnoxious price gouging. I prefer driving an extra 20 minutes to Camden Yards even though the O's suck right now.

He was gone during pretty much the entire month of September when the starters had their most consistant stretch of baseball all season.

It will hurt but lets not get carried away.

Tigers To Sign Prince Fielder

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 24, 2012 at 2:02pm CST]

The Tigers have agreed to sign Prince Fielder to a nine-year, $214MM contract Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports on Twitter.

blaise 01-24-2012 02:05 PM

Really? mediocre? Granted he sucked a big one in the playoffs but he was the Ace of the AL champs and posted a pretty killer ERA in a very hitter friendly park ( I want to say under3, and defintely on around a 2 on the road). Also, he signed for much less than the likes of Burnett and Lackey who have sucked all together, just too name a couple. 5/77 isnt that bad considering what players are getting paid these days.

EDIT: His overall ERA was 2.94--home was 3.79 and away was 2.36..Opponents avg was .232..not sure thats medicore
