Pro Bowl

Got some time to kill this weekend like everyone in CP. I went to the pro bowl game in 2020 while coincidentally in Orlando so the Chiefs weren’t even there. It was just as lame in person as it looks on TV. Now I’m not even sure what they are doing. I saw on Sports Center they were doing dodge ball for ****’s sake. However I would definitely watch the Pro Bowl dodge ball game if it were fans vs. players. Anybody else see anything interesting?

What's the Pro Bowl? /Chiefs fans

Rainbarrel 02-02-2024 07:21 AM

Peyton's team bought the refs

I watched a fews clips of it from last year with dodgeball being the one which sticks out most. Looks like a clown show. If I were an NFL player I'd make sure I was unavailable to participate in something this embarrassing.

Its not even a Pro Bowl anymore.

It's a skills challenge with flag football at the end.

Which doesn't bother me. The actual game has been a joke for years now where they don't tackle anymore to avoid injury.

It's crazy watching some old Pro Bowls from the early 1990s. They were going all out.

I came across something about a dodgeball game last night, but forgot to check it out.

Was just about to post this, saw a little bit of the '95 Pro Bowl the other day, I can't believe how intense this game used to be. They took so much pride in it. Really made the current league look weak.

In reading some of the overview from last night, and seeing that it is now called the Pro Bowl Games instead of just the Pro Bowl, it seems like it's just a good extended weekend for players to get together to have some fun and unwind after the end of their season. I know it's not what it used to be, but that doesn't mean the games can't be fun to watch.

Why Not? 02-02-2024 09:28 AM

It's supposed to be rainy and shitty here on Sunday. What else am I supposed to watch?

The pro bowl was interesting right after the merger, but ceased to be anything of interest after about 5 years. I went to the pro bowl in KC after the 1973 season. Unless I'm mistaken, it was the last NFL game played with goalposts on the goal line.

Hammock Parties 02-02-2024 09:50 AM

the best thing about the pro bowl is tweeting the vampire aristrocrat chiefs fan image and watching it blow up

"play your 'pro bowl' games, peasants."

DJ's left nut 02-02-2024 09:52 AM

You mean the Lamar Jackson Invitational?

Spott 02-02-2024 10:00 AM

Seems like a let down to have it played at the old Citrus Bowl, which is normally surrounded by a large homeless encampment, instead of having it in Hawaii.

IowaHawkeyeChief 02-02-2024 10:24 AM

Watched the dodgeball last night... It was Epic to watch Stephon Diggs drop a ball and get eliminated right away...

Fansy the Famous Bard 02-02-2024 10:56 AM

nor do i even know anyone that watches the pro bowl.

This is the type of crap that SHOULD be broadcast on Peacock.

TLO 02-02-2024 11:11 AM

The last time I remember watching the Pro Bowl, Derrick Johnson almost killed Jamaal Charles.

TinyEvel 02-02-2024 11:17 AM

I'd be pretty upset if the NFL changed it from an actual game to avoid player injury and then I tore and ACL playing dodgeball.

Dodging is just asking for a torn ACL.

More likely a torn meniscus but still....

Womble 02-02-2024 11:18 AM

I'd watch it if it was like this again..

I have to believe the compensation isn't enough to make it worth putting your body on the line after a long season. Imagine a stupid ACL tear in the Pro Bowl. There goes all of next season.
