Eerie similarities between the 1999 Rams and the 2009 Chiefs.
I'm telling you, we're on to something.
In 1999, the Rams invested a high-round draft choice in a veteran quarterback who had been a backup for another team (Trent Green). In 2009, the Chief invested a high-round draft choice in a veteran quarterback who had been a backup for another team (Matt Cassel) In the third preseason game of 1999, the Rams' new quarterback was injured. In the third preseason game of 2009, the Chiefs' new quarterback was injured (albeit not seriously). The Rams quarterback had a left knee injury. The Chiefs quarterback had a left knee injury. The Rams' previous quarterback starter in opening day in 1998 was their third-round pick from three years earlier (Tony Banks). The Chiefs' previous quarterback starter in opening day in 1998 was their third-round pick from three years earlier (Brodie Croyle). During the previous five drafts, the Rams had invested first-round picks in a defensive end (Kevin Carter), a wide receiver (Torry Holt), a left tackle (Orlando Pace), a defensive end (Grant Wistrom), and a running back (Lawrence Phillips), . During the previous five drafts, the Chiefs have invested first-round picks in a defensive end (Tamba Hali), a wide receiver (Dwayne Bowe), a left tackle (Branden Albert), a defensive end (Tyson Jackson), and a defensive tackle (Glenn Dorsey). The Rams' leading rushing touchdown scorer the the previous year was a former Chiefs' first-round pick (Greg Hill). The Chiefs' leading rushing touchdown scorer the the previous year was a former Chiefs' first-round pick (Larry Johnson). The 1999 Rams opened their season against the Baltimore Ravens. The 2000 Chiefs will open their season against the Baltimore Ravens. The 1999 Rams played half of their games in the State of Missouri. The 2009 Chiefs will play half of their games in the State of Missouri. |
So....wait....a Price Chopper employee somewhere in Lenexa is going to lead us to the Super Bowl?
|
How can it be a former Chiefs first round pick..if they're still on the team?
And playing half of their games in Missouri.....NO SHIT!!! |
The 1999 Rams were coached by a guy who lost his only previous Super Bowl appearance.

Come in out of the weather Rain Man. |
Seriously, that's great work RM, and I tried to rep you but it appears OP's are inactive for repping.

I think every time something major happens to the Chiefs, Rain Man goes on pro football reference and starts digging.
Random research is like sex to him. |
Both teams are quarterbacked by a "nobody" that only got their chance when the starter had his knee blown out by a safety from the AFC West.
