Should the Chiefs trade Sean Smith if losing trend continues?
Just an idea that popped into my head... If the path continues as is with losses and we go into full tank mode... Should we ship Smith to say, New England? I know it's not likely but he's in a contract year, I doubt we keep him with the price tag + age...
If Belichick was to offer up a 3rd rounder, would you? I think if we're sitting at 1-6/2-5, it's a necessary move. Edit: I suppose Tamba and DJ are in the same conversation too. |
Trade anyone you aren't building around, imo. Next 2 years are shot, potentially longer.

It's a dumpster fire sale!

Yes. Absolutely.
I'd hate to see Tamba and DJ go, but if they have a chance to play with a contender, sure. |
He's 28 years old. You can never have too many good corners. Why wouldn't the plan be to extend him?

He'll cost too much and isn't likely to be producing at a high level by the time we're able to compete again. |

We'd have trouble finding a trade parter since he's in a contract year. But we could let him walk, and if we dont sign too many FA's we'd likely get a 3rd round comp pick for him in 2017. At this point I think a firesale is the best idea. Trade most of our core guys now while they still have value because most of them will be 30+ by the time we develop a QBOTF. I'd be piling up on comp picks by letting guys like Smith and Berry walk. And then I'd roll over 40+ million dollars of cap money from next year, to 2017. Time to rebuild. :(

Before we start trading solid players for draft picks I want to know who's doing the drafting (at GM and HC...)
|
I think Howard and Berry deserve extensions. Young guys who are in their prime or entering it.

I mean, shit. Look at Ware. He's 2 years older than Tamba. He's found the fountain of youth in Denver's D. |
Absolutely. Even if you can only get a 4th or 5th for Sean Smith, you pull the trigger on that deal. Can never have enough ammunition to move up on draft day.
