Haley still gets undeserved faint praise from Chiefs fans. People will say he was a bad coach and some fan will come in and say, "Yeah, he was bad, but at least he knew it and tried to do something about it."
Yelling and screaming and having performative temper tantrums like the one Cassel described isn't "doing something about it" if that's the only coaching tool you have. It is, however, the most visually obvious example of coaching that fans can see on game day. They see Haley yelling at his players and it makes them feel better because it makes them feel like THEY'RE yelling at the players.
Still, though... **** Matt Cassel. Howdy doody douche ass was always doing all the spouting leadership crap through his horrible stretches of bad and ineffective play. Talentless prick didn't understand that your team follows you because you can actually hit the broad side of a goddamn barn at a consistent clip, not because you say stupid insufferable affirmations on the sideline and in the locker room. Totally tone deaf.
One of my biggest regrets in life is I wasn't at that game in 2012 to cheer his injury.
