As far as the always online thing, that isn't my issue. I just don't choose to put my money on it because it is unnecessary IMO. For now anyway, I feel PS4 is the better buy because I think Sony's exclusives have always been better than Microsofts exclusives. Not saying my opinion won't change in a couple years though.

There is a catch though, I have read that if one of your friends is playing a shared game the rest of the games from that specific friend's collection is off limits until you are done playing a shared game. So for example if I am in Frank's group but Brian is playing a game from Frank's collection I can't touch ANY game while Brian is playing. That isn't confirmed but there is strong speculation that that is the catch. I also don't really have any friends who game (in my late 20's) so I am not sure how well this would work out for me. I don't want April to roll around and see that NBA Live and Fifa are still 60 bucks on Xbox.
PS4 is becoming more appealing every minute.
