You're missing the point. If another poster is mean and harassing you that poster can be put on ignore and you stay in control of your experience on the board. Someone posting cuss words that you don't want to see can be controlled through the use of filters. Bypassing the filters is the EXACT same as a poster who insults you being put on ignore then starting a new account to get around it or getting his buddy to quote his posts so that you see them.

It's not about the CONTENT (dirty words, mean posts, etc) it's about allowing users to control their own experience to a degree. Someone who bypasses the mechanisms in place for this are FORCING themselves on other posters. That makes them an asshole that I want ZERO do to with and am happy to see them gone.

Well I just deleted my cookies and was able to view cp still. I mostly lurk on here occasionally posting here and there. When really, all I did was let myself forget that I'm on a message board for adults that has a language filter in the year 2013.

I'll continue to do my best to not evade the filter, but I want to let it be known that the moral high ground you and other mods are taking on this issue is completely nonexistent. Try to realize that my crime was typing the letter "F" and then the letter "U" and then the letter "X." That's it. I wasn't trying to provoke anybody. I wasn't trying to force anybody to see something they didn't want to see. I wasn't insulting anybody. The rule has very little to do with dirty words. It has to do with CONTROL. We want each user to have as much control over their experience on the board as we can practically provide. This means if an asshole poster gets under their skin they can IGNORE that poster. If that poster then FORCES themselves on the other person by creating mults or having others quote their garbage then they will be banned for circumventing the system. It's the same thing with the filter. If some asshole or idiot (pick which one you are) constantly goes around the filter they are taking that control away from the person who CHOSE not to see certain words. The problem is not dirty words. The problem is that he has ZERO respect for other posters and their ability to control their own experience. After explaining the reasoning to him yet again he refused to "get it" That was enough for me to feel he wasn't worth any further effort. The fact is, he was long past any "chances" he should have been given.
