It's about time someone nailed her down and asked the hard questions. She got caught flat-footed. And there's 2 more to go http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

That's good to hear! The virus known as Clitonism must be stopped!

George W, are you watching?

I think NY is in trouble either way. Lazio does not appear to be the sharpest pencil in the box.

Chi-town, either he rehearsed all angles extensivly or he thinks fast on his feet. Pencil sharpness is important but not preminant-see Carter vs Reagan. Ideas and being able to communicate them I believe is the true test.

BTW just discovered how to do smilies http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/cool.gif

Did they discuss FOOTBALL? No, then I could care less. Get it?

Did anyone watch really, really closely? When Tim Russert posed the "should you apologize for the 'vast right winger conspiracy'" remark, I don't think I've ever seen such a monumental struggle for composure as crossed Ms. Clinton's face. It was difficult to tell if she was trying to hold back sadness, embarrasment or anger, but she looked like someone who had just been kicked in the stomach.

BTW, relevant, hard-hitting questioning like THAT from Russert is the reason that Gore retracted the "anywhere, anytime" mantra and is pushing all out for the "bipartisan" plan for prime time debates with softball questions from lesser journalists just happy to have a chance to talk.
Gore, and Dems in general, thought that Russert was another "go-along" liberal media elite -- that is until he went on Meet the Press solo with Russert back in May or June and Russert filleted him.

Notice that she never said, "I really don't remember, I don't recall...I was making cookies at the time and just don't remember". Those lines work for the press and Justices, not on debates.

Moderator: Question for Mrs. Clinton. Don't you think you should apologize for the vast conspiracy against Gunther Cunningham?!

Hillary: There's nothing to apologize for there. Gunther Cunningham has never been offensive in his life. Hence, no conspiracy. [pssst... pass the smelling salts...]

Moderator: Mr. Lazio, the Chiefs have scored 1 offensive touchdown in each of the last two games. If elected, what will you do about that?

Lazio: Thank god that Bill Parcells is our GM here in New York and personally lobby that the Chiefs get moved into the AFC East!

Fan in Texas - I agree with you, this guy comes over here, he has a total of 5 posts, and tries to turn this into another political discussion. I won't be as subtle as you, I wish this individual would find a place to post, politically related, not football. Do not want to offend, but I hope the moderators pull this crapola.

KC Chiefs- Now it's a football topic.

Fly,
LOL! Wow it looks like I DID miss something. I must have changed the channel before they started talking FOOTBALL!

Holliday,
Why else would you have started this thread if it wasn't for the fact that they did talk FOOTBALL?

What part of "Did anyone see the debate last night?" led you to think this WOULDN'T be a political topic. If you want a site where posting anything other than Chiefs-only posts gets you pulled, have I got a site for you.

Hey JC, they also have a government BB, why don't you and Holladay run over there, or better yet trade emails and form your own chat room.

I didn't see the debate, but I heard that Lazio set the model for Conservatives ~ nothing negative, just positive, straight forward talk and a refusal to be intimidated.

I would really appreciate hearing from those that did see it if this is accurate?

I don't think a periodic off the subject topic is going to kill anyone. Who cares how many posts he has. Everyone is new sometime. I just hope he's a Chiefs fan!

BTW, I read some books on Hillary in college, for a political science class, she is an interseting character. Her Secret Service men don't have a whole lot of nice things to say about her.

First,

Kc-Chiefs & KCred
We're all fans here. By defn=fanatics. I love to talk football. I enjoy other peoples takes on the game. I find that most fanatics also are fanatical about other topics. Politics is one of those lightning rods. Since I "KNOW" the folks here, I'd like to discuss another fanatical topic. I don't have time to visit and get to know folks on other boards. If you don't like it, don't click on it. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif can you say deja vu.

Luzap: your take is correct. He laid the template for Bush. Lazio was engaging, aggressive and tried to stay on topic. Hillary was...Hillary. Aloof, confused and a victim. I look at some polls on some news sites to see what other folks thought. Not surprising that the Fox site Lazio up 70% and at ABC Hillary up 70%. Go figure...

BTW 47, I may be new to posting but have Lurked for years. I have thick skin but little time to engage. I appreciate your support.

Moderator: For Mrs. Clinton. What would you do if elected GM of the Chiefs to improve scoring opportunities?

Hillary: Fire Gunther and hire Billy. At least he knows how to score! [Though never with me...]

Moderator: Mr. Lazio, there's been a lot said that the Chiefs "prevent" defense sucks... What would you do about that?

Lazio: We would do it the New York way. No more zone defense crapola! We would mug 'em like we do here in the Bronx. You go out for a pass on us and we're gonna show you what mano-o-mano really means... Ya dig?<BR>

I always find it humourous that in every political thread there is at least one person carping about discussing non-football on a football board.

The title clearly indicates what it's about. No one forced anyone to read it. I believe the BB admins disabled the auto popup feature that causes threads to force themselves on you, so what's the beef?!

*just not understanding some folks complaints*

Dr. Red
09-14-2000, 02:32 PM
ck_IN - There's a channel on TV called C-Span. Why don't you go home and watch that and leave us footballers alone?

If I have to I'll spend my whole day posting on political threads telling them not to waste my time.

[totally tongue in cheek]

BD, I'm just hoping George can do half as well against Bill's toad Gore. Algore is just a variant of the disease called Clintonism.

*Friends don't let friends vote liberal*

JC, that does seem to be the mentality. Complain about the political threads by posting on each and every one of them. Kinda of like proving how tough your team is by running against an 8 man line.

Billary will still win the election, amazingly enough.

Who is that slightly butch woman that is the spin doctor for Bush? She is an incredible BS "arteest". When I see her on TV, I have to watch...always in amazement. She would actually make a much better candidate than Bush, IMO.

Clint
I believe you are right. She will probably win. Has anyone had the chance to see any of their advertisements? H.Clinton has done nothing but bash on Lazio. Lazio in turn comes back with a commercial about how all she can do is bash him because she has never done anything for NY. I thought it was a pretty clever come back.

What's that? It's Pat.

No Clint, just an attempt at humor. Hannity is 1/2 of Hannity and Colmes. He also subs for Rush while he's on vacation.

Seriously, might you be talking about Peggy Noonan? As a former Reagan and Bush speechwriter, she is definitely in their camp. She is also quite eloquent. Though, I don't think she's all that butch.

Q: Coach Cunningham, since you and your staff obviously know nothing about football, what is your take on last night's debate?

A: I prefer to not wear gloves when I put the bait on the hook. Getting that nasty stinkbait smell permanently impregnated in my hands shows everyone my toughness.

Q: I'm referring to last night's debate between New York Senate candidates Hillary Clinton and Rick Lazio.

A: I know what you were referring to. I've got 3 computers in my office and get to work at 4am every day. I'm well connected.

Q: So what is your take?

A: I'm not on the take. I've never been accused of accepting bribes from other coaches. I am not on the payroll of any Las Vegas casino. I'm a hard working, dedicated, tough coach.

Q: Methinks you doth protest too much, coach. I was asking for your opinion of last nights political debate.

A: I didn't see it. Next question.
