but Thiggy had far better upside than the POS Cassel.

Thigpen was a more mobile version of Cassel.

if we had a chance to get a qb thats considered a cant miss player like Luck then yes.

Nothing is guranteed buddy...

Luck has the opportunity to be a superbowl QB but he isnt guranteed a damn thing...

I agree with this also. That being said, we're due to draft a QB with our first round pick.

like i said before we need a QB and drafting one is essential but there has to be more thought going into it than what Pioli did when he traded a second round pick for Cassel.

This jumped out at me too. Makes no sense.

My bad... I was thinking something else and typed that comment poorly. I fixed it - there have been 11 QBs taken #1 overall.

I would clarify that Luck has to be the starting QB.

Mile High Mania 12-21-2011 11:36 AM

They also talked about how Indy may have really screwed up by winning last week, especially if they find another win and match the Rams with 2 wins.

There's a scenario that puts the Rams at the #1 overall pick and with Bradford... they could command a HUGE bounty, someone was talking about 3 R1 picks and a couple of R2 picks... or even 4 R1 picks. It's crazy talk, especially with the 50/50 success rate by going QB #1 overall.

I think Luck can be the next great QBotF... but is anyone really wild about their team trading that large of a bounty in order to get him?

Looking at 3 consecutive draft picks:

Would I trade Baldwin, Berry and Jackson for Luck? Yeah.
Would I trade Berry, Jackson, Dorsey? Yes.
Would I trade Jackson, Dorsey and Bowe? Yes.
Dorsey, Bowe, Hali? tougher, but maybe.
Bowe, Hali and DJ? No.

And with the current rookie pay scale taking a QB in first round is less of a cap burden than in the past.

Also, you can go down every position on an NFL team and find a high number of early first round busts. So should that preclude an NFL team from ever taking a player at that position early in the draft again?

Especially this.
