In the last 20 years...
Looking at things from 1991 through 2010... I heard Mike & Mike talking about this today. Comparing QBs drafted #1 and how they're really about 50/50 on whether or not they have proven to be worth the selection over the last 20 seasons.
Then, comparing that list to the list of starting QBs on SB winning teams in the same 20 year period. I think there have been something like 11 QBs selected #1 overall in this timeframe... and 5 of them have been on SB winning teams. Guys like Stafford and Bradford are early in their careers. 14 different QBs have won a SuperBowl. Rypien (round 6) Aikman (3X, round 1P1) Young (round 1P1) Favre (round 2) Elway (2X, round 1P1) Warner (UDFA) Dilfer (round 1P6) Brady (3, round 6) B Johnson (round 9) Roethlisberger (2X, round 1P11) P Manning (round 1P1) E Manning (round 1P1) Brees (round 2) Rodgers (round 1P24) Just found it interesting and thought I would throw it out there...
