G2G isn't 4th and 1, reading comp champ, and we don't exactly have Michael Vick as a pitch man, either.

Awesome. Thats almost sig-worthy.

Sure...put it in your sig. At least I can be real...if it worked and went for 6 it was a great call...if we call an inside run and get stuffed the same reactions would be going on around here..."why run inside against ngata with weigman at center" "the pitch was our bread and butter why not get charles in space" "why pass on 4th and 1" etc. etc.

Nah. It would be more along the lines of "Why the hell didnt we kick a FG when we were only down by 3." Instead we called a pitch with a foot to go which leaves the door wide open for "If you were gonna go for it why the hell dont you run it up the gut?"

Hootie 01-10-2011 05:58 PM

Field goal wasn't an option...going for it was the correct call...I hope everyone can at least agree with that.

They weren't going to make that kick.

Teams don't have to account for Cassel taking off on them like they do with Vick. Thinking that because the Eagles can get away with a playcall like that means we can too is ridiculous.

It was a horrid call with horrid execution.

Yes, I agree with you here.

We''l never know. Trying a kick would have been a better option than that "trick pitch."

Not really. The end result would be the same.

Hootie 01-10-2011 06:01 PM

Uhm lol a toss sweep with vick at qb would be even more difficult to execute because of the fact the ends and backers have to keep their lanes to prevent a possible bootleg or roll out...but yeah yeah...we're the chiefs we're dumb we call dumber plays etc etc etc blah blah blah

Which is why it would have been a better option.

Priest Holmes used to take the toss sweep into the endzone on goal to go ... on a fairly regular basis, too.

It's dependent upon how you've set up the defense, their alignment and tendencies, and (most of all) your own personnel, more than anything. All this "never, ever, ever" stuff is usually wrong ... in football, as it is in everything else.

It's just like what Grampa FAX used to say; "The only thing you can count on to never happen is Grandma playing Nude Twister in this house again."

If the "trick pitch" went for 6 it would have been considered a great playcall by everyone...if an inside run gets stuffed the reactions would be the same as they are now...but blaming a trick pitch is easy for picketing fans...that's for sure

There is no better when the end result is the same.

If, if, if, if, if, if. Todd Haley says, "STFU! It was a terrible play call!"
