More disappointing than Cassel choking like bitch?
Our coordinators
No one is surprised that Cassel couldn't rise to the occasion (Pats fans have long lectured us to love and accept this mediocrity), but both Crennel and Weis got their asses kicked. These guys have rings, I expected better. We have Charles, Moeaki, and that worthless midget McCluster....why couldn't we run that short middle stuff that the Ravens were killing us with? And we couldn't throw a simple slant to Bowe?....Really? Ravens destroyed us on 3rd down. Our early blitzes were worthless. The defense got better, and held them to fgs for a awhile, but we couldn't get them off the field in the first half when it was crucial. It was obvious on the first drive that the Ravens OC saw a weakness in our defense, and exploited it. I thought we had a great chance to win largely based on the pedigree of our coordinators. Still shocked. |

The problem with the game yesterday came down to really one simple fact. Talent.
While we have some awesome rookies (Berry is just going to be amazing) and young players in our secondary, Our LB's (excluding Hali who has made the transition to LB, and come out the other end a beast) and our D-Linemen leave something to be desired. Dorsey, Gilberry and Smith are getting better, but that’s about it. We desperately need a NT, a solid MLB, and another pass rusher. The really bad part is that we draft or offensive players from the handicap Olympics. Charles is amazing, there is no doubt, but everyone else is terrible. While Cassel made some improvements at the latter part of the year, he went from being absolutely horrible, too passable as a QB in the CFL. We were all so ecstatic that he made it passed the starring down his receiver issue that we moved him up into the pantheon of greatness, when really he barely made it into the hall of "he's ok if the defense is ranked 25th or lower". Bowe had a great season, but is that because he is awesome, or because we have no other receivers to go to. I think the fact that he was completely shut out yesterday, as in not even given a look to, is a pretty big sign that he is not the player we want him to be. Great receivers find ways to be open, even more than that, coaches find ways to get them open. The O-line is a wreck. Lilja was an upgrade over last year, so was Wiegman, Waters is mailing it in, Albert is still learning, and apparently we are just cursed at RT and will never find a player that can do anything more than just be a speed bump. Some people want to blame Weiss or Haley, and that’s fine, some of the blame definitely falls to them, like not using JC at all in the second half, how does that even happen? But no matter what the scheme was yesterday, the talent wasn’t there to pull it off. Charles runs for 9 yards three times in a row, go out for a breather, and Jones gets back to the LoS. Bowe doesn’t get open or even try to it looked like, and Cassels reverts back to shitting himself instead of being a legit QB. If you are a QB in the NFL, you should know exactly what intentional grounding is, and avoid it, not make it blatantly obvious that you’re doing it. That play right there was the beginning of the end. Believe it when you hear that the strength of schedule is why the Chiefs got into the playoffs this year, and be prepared for next year to go back to be a sub .500 team again. Cause if they don't address the offensive needs in a major way, teams will just load up, stop Charles, and put the game on Cassel's shoulders. And, well, we all know how that ends. |

This is pretty accurate. I havent seen many comments about this, but our salary was the lowest in the league.(I believe ~80 million in 2010). The annual salaries of the top teams is like 150 million, or almost double ours. Until Clark Hunt ponies up the money, we will always be competing at a disadvantage. If the Players/Owners strike a deal, I better see Clark getting out his god damned wallet. This is crap.

I'll give props to Crennel. This is largely (other than Berry) the same defense as the last 10 years of defensive abortion. He schemed this group into doing far better than they should have. The main thing Sunday was the totally lopsided TOP, I saw player after player coming to the sideline gassed. If we could have sustained a few offensive drives to keep TOP close they would have been fresher and done a better job in my mind.

They had to put McGraw in. As great as Berry was doing in run support and making plays, Heap is his man to cover. He was getting pwned by Heap.

I don't think so. Berry had Heap covered very well throughout the game. There was 1 perfect pass on the sidelines when Berry went for the INT rather than swat and it was completed. Berry had Heap blanketed in the endzone on 3rd down. McGraw was just horrible. He did nothing right in that game.
