I still think moving Riley would be a questionable decision.

Riley was the Chiefs best lineman [next to Shields] this year.

I'd rather put Alford at OG.

I don't like moving Riley to gaurd at all...

I also think Grunny agrees to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Not bad Gaz.

I'm not too fond of Ricks on your list of WR's. If you're an offensive player and you're cut by SD that speaks volumes to me. I'm kinda hoping Lockett will remain in the fold at a decent price.

I definitly agree that we need to draft a D tackle, (Shaun Rodgers anyone) or a LB (Mr. Morgan come on down). I also think we might be in the market for a FA saftey. I'm anticipating a move to LB by Atkins.

Gaz 01-02-2001 12:24 PM

Cannibal-

I'd like to see Grunhard come back. Maybe his 70% NO is just mouth noise. If he does retire, I can live with Willis at Center.

I like Riley at ORG because he has size but not speed. I think Riley would make a good Guard, although I have been pleasantly surprised by his play at ORT this season.

I also would like to keep Lockett, but the facts suggest that will not happen:

· Lockett wants to start.
· Lockett will not start in KC.
· Carl will not pay starter's $$$ to the #3 WR.

The conclusion I reach is that Lockett is gone, much as I would prefer it otherwise.

Riley excelled at pass protection this year. He dominated Jevon Kearse, Reggie White and Mike Sinclair [among other skilled pass rushers].

Everytime Grbac was pressured it was up the middle [Blackshear], or from the outside left [Tait]. Riley gave up less than 3 or 4 sacks all year.

If you move him to OG, and put Alford at RT, just watch the sacks fall down on Girlbac like rain.

So the question is who replaces Shields? Do you replace the pro-bowler with Riley a 3rd yr guy (I think) or Alford a rookie. Whichever way you go you know the other guy has to move outside. I'd be tempted to put Alford at tackle and give him TE/FB help if he needs it. Going from Shields to Riley at guard might not be such a steep dropoff as Shield to Alford.

ck_IN 01-02-2001 12:44 PM

Yeah Lockett wants to be a starter and get starter money. I want to be independently wealthy and date Jenny Lopez. I doubt either will happen.

Lockett simply doesn't have the speed to be a #1 or #2 WR. A Cleavland or SD might give him a shot but would Lockett want to play for a team so far down or one that's a few pieces away from something special. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lockett remain with a contract worse than starter but better than the usuall #3 WR. I can live with that.

Guard is the easiest position to fill on the O-line.

Tackle is the hardest position to fill.

I think you leave the experienced guy at Tackle put the rook at guard.

Protecting the QB is not something to be taken lightly [we are talking about Grbac you know].

I don't want to break up our young Tackle tandem for the next 10-12 years.

It's a no-brainer to me, but it's also just my opinion.<BR>

Snapper 01-02-2001 12:46 PM

(-) Ricks n Collins!

G_Man 01-02-2001 01:24 PM

I agree with Cannibal about Riley. Now that he's developed into a great RT it would be stupid to start all over at both positions.

I hate Stills at DE. Stills might never develop into a quality LB, but he SURE won't at DE. He's too small. There aren't too many LBs that can rush from a DE position. DT was the exception, not the rule.

And I would really like to see a draft pick at HB (day 1). Even if we decide to go with T-Rich (which I think would be a mistake) we should have a guy in there for insurance and for RBotF.
