If you could be any kind of bird, what would you choose?
 

So, in the spirit of good parenting, my wife decided to get a bird feeder. The kids were really enjoying it until later this afternoon, when apparently a Cooper's Hawk decided to ambush the other cute, fluffy birds at the feeder and eat a few. While watching the hawk consume his smaller breathren, I wondered the above question for myself.

I'd like to be a male Western Tanager.

That would be so cool. I always wanted to see a bird of prey grab another bird out of the sky.

I'd like to be one of those falcons that dive-bombs their prey. That would be a pretty exciting lifestyle.

Anyways I think I'd be a golden eagle. Because they're golden and eagles.

never given it a thought. but i suppose a bald eagle would be a good bird to be.

The Cooper's Hawk ambushed them at the feeder, not in the sky.

Sky feeder lake I don't care I just want death from above.

I really wouldn't want to be any kind of bird. The sex can't be that great. I'd choose to be a pig. They really get after it.

Am I disqualified now?

In this instance I'd have to go with A Cooper's Hawk.

A Peregrine Falcon? World's fastest bird, if my geekness recalls. 200+ mph in a dive?

I don't think that fits you. Perhaps something more sedentary? One of those birds that lives underground, perhaps?

i actually got to witness an eagle chase down a duck last winter. i'd guess the chase may have lasted 3-5 minutes. never saw a duck flap his wings so fast before. but, he just wasn't fast enough.
