Assault Charge Filed In Cell Phone Swallowing
Phone Was Lodged In Woman's Throat

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 23-year-old man was charged in connection with a woman who was assaulted with a cell phone.

Marlon B. Gill was charged with first-degree assault.

Early Friday morning, Melinda Abell was taken to a Blue Springs hospital when she had trouble breathing. Doctors operated to remove a cell phone that was lodged in her throat.

Abell told officers that Gill, her ex-boyfriend, had forced her into a car and demanded to see her cell phone. They were stopped in a parking lot on Highway 40, and Abell said Gill grabbed her by the mouth, held it open and shoved the phone down her throat.

Gill is not in custody. He is 5 feet 9 inches and 180 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.

Abell remains in a hospital, but officials said her condition is improving.

I've heard two versions of this story. The other version says the woman VOLUNTARILY swallowed it.

That was the original story.

This is somewhat tangential to the story but I'd just like to say that if the little thug tried this shiot with my daughter, jail time is the least of his worries.
I'd track the little fug down and treat him to a myriad of odd objects to digest. Starting with my fist and his teeth.

Hmm... thinking about this makes me think of that one commerical (T-Mobile I think?) where the dog swallowed the owner's phone.

Common sense should tell you it probably didn't happen that way.
