BTW, so far, I have a Ruger 22 Takedown rifle. 2000 rounds. And a Ruger 9mm hand gun. 100 rounds. Do I need a AR?

Thanks

I'd probably go with a larger caliber for self defense and hunting like a .308 rifle of some kind, rather than an AR.
I have adopted the mindset of limiting the Ammo sizes I have to have. I have limited myself to 9mm, .45, .308, 5.56 and of course 12 Ga. I need to add a .22 to my reptoire. Most of what I have is relatively easy to come by. In an ammo crunch the .308 can shoot the 7.62 and the 5.56 can shoot .223
