Depends on what would you need it for. Is it for academic purposes? Regular conversations? Job? Travel?
I learned the two additional languages for academic purposes so it may toke longer if you intend on using it that way. However, if you want a good way to learn how to get yourself around then try the Pimsleur method. Get his Spanish CDs. He uses repetition. It is helpful if you want to just understand the basics.
You need to get used to the new language. Make it something you see and use everyday. Change your phone's language to Spanish, your browser (google chrome allows that) to Spanish, listen to as much audio as possible in Spanish, sign up via email to word of the day and get a new Spanish word every day.
