Gregg Williams Off the Board

Just signed a record breaking contract for an assistant coach in the NFL.

Can get out next year, but scratch him for this year.

I doubt he'll do that. I don't think Herm had any say whatsoever in who were his coordinators in NY. Bradway picked them. And Carl will pick them here, and he will try to keep the offensive staff in place, and he will most certainly keep his 2nd best buddy (now probably his first best) Gunther Cunningham.

Problem is, after it is all said and done, we will have done nothing to address our glaring weakness in brains on the defensive side of the ball, and we will have lost DV and AS. The players know the offense, so it might not take a huge hit, but Herm isn't going to be able to help Gunther turn it around.

I guess we might an experiment in place. Was it DV's softness or Gunther's idiocy as to why we were so bad in D. I think we will soon find out.

If he wanted to be a head coach, he could have named his price after the Buc's won the bowl. He's still there, that tells me he doesn't have the desire to be a head coach.

This if from Clayton's newest blog:Line of succession in D.C.: No one should be surprised by Gregg Williams' decision to stay with the Redskins. Williams would have gotten at least one or two offers for a head coaching position, but instead accepted a three-year, $8 million deal to be Joe Gibbs' defensive coordinator. Williams is expected to follow Gibbs in a couple years when he retires. The good thing for Williams is that he will become a better head coach learning from Gibbs, who is a Hall of Fame administrator. For owner Dan Snyder, he now has his next coach in place and will be able to keep franchise stability.
