So Guillen is a Royal now?

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3140604

NASHVILLE -- Outfielder Jose Guillen and the Kansas City Royals have reached a preliminary agreement for a three year, $36 million deal, a relative of the ballplayer told ESPNdeportes.com.

Guillen
The agreement will be complete when Guillen passes a physical exam, scheduled for Tuesday.

Guillen, 31, hit .290 with 23 home runs and 99 RBIs in 153 games with the Seattle Mariners last season. He had an opportunity to become a free agent when the Mariners declined an option of $9 million for 2008.

In 11 seasons with eight different teams, Guillen hit .274 with 166 home runs and 673 RBIs.

The outfielder averaged 27 home runs and 88 RBIs between 2003 and 2005 but was limited the next two seasons by wrist and right elbow operations.

Last week, Guillen was questioned by the commissioner's office about his appearance on a list of baseball players who bought human growth hormone and steroids from a clinic in Florida, which is under federal investigation.

According to records from the Rejuvenation Center of Palm Beach, Guillen spent more than $19,000 for hormones and steroids between May 2002 and June 2005.

"We told the commissioner's office my version of this whole affair, which in some ways has been handled with some errors in the media," Guillen told ESPNdeportes.com last weekend.

Enrique Rojas is a reporter and columnist for ESPNdeportes.com and ESPN.com.

What would you suggest we do with the guy that we just signed to one of the biggest contracts in club history?

Teahen reminds of Kawika Mitchell or Lawrence Tynes with the Chiefs. He is solid but he can be replaced. DeJesus is the same way.

I agree. Teehan=Kawika DeJesus=Fujita. Both are solid players but they are far from untouchable and an upgrade is probably needed anyway.

Agree about Teahan. Hes seems to have topped out or close to it. Hes got ZERO power for a 1st baseman.

Hes an "ok" player, but nothing special.

You guys paid him $12 mil a year? Enjoy. I'm glad he's gone at that price. I'd hoped we'd keep him, but for nowhere near that kind of coin.

Marlins, Tigers close to blockbuster

Cabrera, Willis to Detroit; Maybin, Miller to Florida
Posted: Tuesday December 4, 2007 6:29PM; Updated: Tuesday D
Jon Heyman, SI.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Marlins and Tigers are in serious talks in a deal that would send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to Detroit for young left-hander Andrew Miller, outfielder Cameron Maybin, and four other young players, SI.com has confirmed.

It is believed Tigers backup catcher Mike Rabelo is part of the package.

Sources close to the story believe the deal will be finalized by Tuesday night.

The Marlins had been close to dealing Cabrera to the Angels but when those talks stalled, the Tigers stepped up in and now appear close to making the deal happen.

Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski and assistant GM Al Avila originally signed Cabrera out of Venezuela for the Marlins.

Foxsports.com first reported the possible trade.

No shit. The Mariners are the worst team in the baseball. I'm still glad we didn't get saddled with that salary on top of all the other bullshit going on around here.
