Hindsight poll: Should King Carl hired Mike McCarthy instead of Herm?

We had our choice of any coach that off season. The Chiefs job was considered the best of all the open NFL jobs.

Should have King Carl hired McCarthy over Herm? Or someone else other than those two former Chiefs assistants?

Is McCarthy getting credit for Farve's rebirth? Is he resonsible for the Packer rebirth?

Is it too early to decide on Herm yet?

I know he wasn't as starter for most of his college career which is why he fell so far in the draft.

As well, he inherits a hall of fame QB and a first round QB. Remember, when he was coaching in SF, he was one of the main proponents in pushing for selecting Alex Smith ahead of Aaron Rodgers. So, frankly, McCarthy may not have been the right choice for this situation. And frankly, Herm may not have been either. But Herm may also wind up being the in-between who deals with the losing and the rebuilding so another coach can come in and ride the upswing or hopefully take this team to the next level...
You have to be sending the team in the right direction to be doing that.

If you wanted a defensive coach I would have gone to someone who didn't get hired that year, and still hasn't, Mike Singletary.

The only other choice that year was Al Saunders, whom I thought earned the job with what he did to our offense. He wasn't very good in San Diego, but that was a long time ago. Then again Gunther earned the job in 1999. That didn't turn out so well.

No way Al Saunders got the job. He wasn't a King Carl lackey.

Found this on ESPN:

the Chiefs have won as many postseason games -- three -- in the past 38 seasons combined as they won in their final AFL campaign in 1969.

Thats not all coaching. Thats front office.
