and another one called "Rainbow Bridge" that many have read before. Dartgod posted it before in a thread long ago.
The Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... |

im suprised this thread has gone on as long as it has.
http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=60232 scroll down and read the article by California Jack the guy has a reputation as a shylok but has had some very good dogs and bred some very good dogs and knows his shit. i used for the most part this article to help bring my walker pup back from the brink. when i say brink i mean he was a dried up little husk of a puppy. hope this helps someone in the future. |

I was hoping for a better outcome. I hate to hear when someone's pet dies. I've lost too many "animal friends" in my lifetime so far. I think you're wise to wait before getting another puppy. Parvo is one resilient bastard! I hope better things come your way.

I'm so sorry to hear the lil' guy didn't make it. Parvo is nasty and you made the right decision not to let him suffer anymore.
At least by going to the shelter for reimbursement, you've brought it to their attention that a dog was infected with the virus on their grounds. They should be bleaching that place out right now. Hopefully another dog can avoid the same fate. |

Just out of curiosity, how can you fully decontaminate an area like your yard? I wouldn't think that Clorox would be kind to your grass.

It basically just kills your grass and you deal with it. I know there is another product out there that is supposed to be safe for grass/animals/humans and still kill the virus.

I see. It's good to hear about this thing - we're considering getting a dog in the next few months, so I appreciate you sharing your experience. It's too bad yours didn't end with a happy ending.

I would definitely make sure that the puppy gets all of his vaccinations and that you get him/her a checkup immediately after getting them. I couldn't get mine to the vet soon enough.
