Life on Mars

Didn't see a dedicated thread but I'm catching up via downloads and I have to say this is one of the better shows on right now. Acting is superb. I really dig the lead.

And I dig the premise.

Wow, I'm shocked I started this thread.

Well, I'm not because at first it was a great concept and had a great cast. But I lost interest about 4 episodes in because it didn't go anywhere. I happened to watch the finale after LOST and it was pathetic. It was like the South Park economy outtake: let a chicken with its head cut off landing on a plot device or character path.

Tracks down his dad, Harvey Kietel shoots his dad, wakes up and realizes Harvey IS his dad. Utter rubbish.

I'm glad I got out when I did. Can't say the same for my family.

Does anyone know if that was how the original British series ended?

Cheap is putting it nicely. It was a nanometer above "it was all a dream".

Being a HUGE Sopranos fan and seeing Michael Imperioli in a space suit ranks right up there with seeing grandma naked. Can't say I liked it and things will never be the same on some level.

Basically the pilot was great, but it floundered from there.

It was a very disappointing ending! There actually is a spinoff on the BBC version. I wonder if ABC will pick that one up.

If this one couldn't make it two seasons, I doubt they give Ashes to Ashes a try.

That's the thing about Brit tv series. Regardless of their popularity they shut them down. Look at the BBC's office, didn't it only last 3-4 seasons?

It was 2 seasons but I am somewhat sure it was only intended to be a short run show.

One of the only series that my whole family has watched together. It was a good series up till the last 10 minutes, but honestly, there was no good way to wrap this story up. It was more about the journey than the destination.
