Stuff & Things

That your kids will or wont eat?

Gave the boy some $blue cheese$ yesterday the face he made almost put me into hysterics ( coulda been the vino ). He also doesnt care for anything he thinks I have made remotely 'spicey'. He has learned that if he doesnt like something he just says 'to spicey' and makes a face, i make him eat it 95% of the time anyway.

Ramen noodles - good lord those things are gross. i ate em when i was a kid, but the girl eats maybe 2 packs a day ( then wonders why her stomach hurts). Couldnt figure out why the kids were never hungry at diner time.
come to find out they were eating 3-4 packs of ramen after school between the two of em....

Boys are easy.

Dare him to eat the most nasty thing.

"I DARE YOU to eat those green beans. No? Watch this, I'll step on them and THEN eat them...............YYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUM!"

"Ewww. Yuck."

"Well son? What? Can you top Dad? I'll bet you can't eat those 'taters with peas and eggs in a smashed bunch of bread..."

Etc.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

People need to get away from canned, processed crap and plant a garden. To eat a tomato from the grocery store in December versus one picked ripe from the vine from your own garden is literally like night and day. I imagine that eating processed canned peas versus garden fresh ones is the same kind of thing.
No kidding. Peas are my kids' favorites. My one son is a complete nut for frozen peas. He begs me to give him a bowl of frozen peas before I start actually cooking them.

I love em too.....that's why I keep trying to get her to eat them. She ate pickled beets for ****'s sake.....peas seem reasonable after that.

We didn't force our kids to eat. They had to try a couple of bites of everything but after that it was their choice to eat of not. However, they didn't get anything else. Next meal was breakfast. The power struggle over eating wasn't worth it and just caused too much stress.

Neither of them starved to death and they are both pretty good about eating now (aged 12 and 15).

I have a granddaughter and grandson that will eat everything we give them, clean their plates and ask for more. And then I have another granddaughter and grandson who will only eat very few things. Different strokes.....

My 5 "kids" are all grown men (ages 28 to 39) so they eat whatever they want. Just glad I don't have to buy all their food anymore. Oh man, just thinking about my old grocery bills....ouch.....

I raised my kids to clean up their plate, just like my parents raised me. Now, the dietitian at the cardio center, puts a lot of the blame for our countries obesity, squarely on that rule.

Restaurants , both fast food and set down, are serving much larger portions. We eat it all, because those kids in India and China don't have it.

Yeah, I still remember visualizing a long line of Chinese children holding their severed right arm out just to get that crust of bread or whatever it was that needed to be cleaned off the plate.

"There are starving kids in China that would cut off their right arm for that crust of bread!"

Thanks gramma........

You could really corner the Black Market for organs with like 2 or 3 loaves of Wonder Bread at that rate.

My mom tried the starving children in China line on me when I was young. I told her that she could send it them.

That didn't go over so well.

My two oldest are EXACTLY the same...They have to have ranch on or with EVERYTHING...It drives me nuckn' futs...

I can grill/cook a perfect chicken breast and add mash potatoes and green beans and they will basically get a bowl of ranch, eat the chicken and discard the potatoes and green beans.

I remember cutting up with my sister, "we should just dig a hole through the earth, all the way to china and give it to them." My parents didn't find it too funny, that is was probably the only thing I knew about geography.
