If you were an EMMY voter, what would be your nominations?

You - Planet member, person with keen taste in the Television medium, what shows and actors would you nominate if you were an Emmy voter this year?

My personal ballot would be as follows, winners in boldface:

Best Drama:
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Treme
Lost
Sons of Anarchy
Friday Night Lights

Best Comedy:
Community
Modern Family
Parks & Recreation
Glee
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Party Down

Lead Actor, Drama:
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)
John Hamm (Mad Men)
Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights)
Hugh Laurie (House)
Terry O'Quinn (Lost) (He was Lost's lead for its sixth season, and I give leeway for ensemble shows to nominate whoever)

Lead Actress, Drama:
January Jones (Mad Men)
Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad)
Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy)
Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights)
Melissa Leo (Treme)

Supporting Actor, Drama:
Michael Emerson (Lost)
Josh Holloway (Lost)
Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad)
Dean Norris (Breaking Bad)
Chelcie Ross (Mad Men) (or if he only counts as "guest actor," then Andre Braugher from "Men of a Certain Age")

Supporting Actress, Drama:
Yunjin Kim (Lost)
Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men)
Khandi Alexander (Treme)
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men)
Beth Reisgraf (Leverage)

Lead Actor, Comedy:

Ty Burrell (Modern Family)

Lead Actress, Comedy:
Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation)
Lea Michelle (Glee)
Toni Collette (The United States of Tara)
Portia de Rossi (Better Off Ted)
Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie)

Supporting Actor, Comedy:
Aziz Ansari (Parks & Recreation)
Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation)
Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family)

I've got dozens of other posts that would make more sense to quote if you're going to lob that one out at me.

If there were a seventh comedy nominated then I would have chosen The Office. I don't feel that last season for that show (or the one before it, or the one before it) was among the strongest comedies on the air. The show seems like a parody of itself most times and it relies too heavily on the fondness that the show's audience has for all of its characters. Still, I watched every episode of last season and would choose it ten times out of ten over The Big Bang Theory.

The show in particular. I hate the writing and I've never laughed during an episode. I've seriously never found a single joke to be funny the few times I've watched it.And while I do find the old "studio audience" "line-line-laugh, line-line-laugh, line-line-big laugh" setup that CBS still uses to be very stale at this point, I enjoy How I Met Your Mother.
Agreed re laugh track or studio audience. That said, Big Bang is absolutely hilarious. So, I'm left only to conclude you are not a geek.

Good look arguing that I'm not a geek. I prefer the word "nerd," but that's a pointless semantically hangup.

So much shit I didn't care about last night. When Community, Parks & Rec and It's Always Sunny combine for ONE nomination, the entire comedy field is rendered invalid. Mad Men and Breaking Bad deserved all their wins, but other than that, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. And I love The Daily Show, but for ****'s sake, give somebody else the award. I wanted to see Conan's speech.

Far and away it's weakest season. Though I thought it turned a nice corner after the Christmans episode. And, I'd venture to say, the biggest belly laugh I've ever had watching the show came last season. Mostly miss, but some nice hits in the second half. I'm looking forward to the new season.

The Good Wife knocked it **** out of the park tonight.
Someone on this writing staff knows the Illinois legal system inside and out.
I missed out on a plum job when the firm I was trying to get on with went through a similar fight. They were too busy fighting each other to worry about new hires, even though they wanted my services.
Don't know if I have laughed harder than when Marguilies did the squawk, squawk motion with her hand when David Lee tried to address the court.
I wish I had the time and gumption to lay out the myriad and multifold ways this show get SO ****ING many big and small things right, so many of which a lay person might not even notice. There might be so better, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, etc., don't necessarily know if there are ANY EVER smarter, only so much of what's smart of The Good Wife probably flies over the head of many, while still being a rip roaring good tale for the lay person.

Trying to contain my anger.
Not a word from you guys.
This was the best episode of TV in I can't remember when.
Anyone, ANYONE, make the case of a better episode.
This episode could have garnered 5 Emmys all by itself.
Alicia, Will, Dianne, Cary and the writers Robert and Michelle King.

Anyone, ANYONE!!

Lost's Walkabout, Bring it!!
BB's The Fly - Ninja Please!!
Deadwood's A Lie Agreed Upon, shhhhhhiiiiiitttt.

I think that episode was a little over-rated.

I'd think it right up your alley. Though it's about Chicago, not L.A., it's really ahead of the curve on legal issues, bitcoin, NSA, internet hazing, politics in business, 'creative' problem solving. It's really smart about all of it.

What it does better than any show since The X-Files, even better than Justified, is integrate long form story telling and cases of the week. So you can enjoy a single episode, but really benefit from watching from the beginning.

I've heard it's great and maybe some day I'll catch up to it. But believe it or not, I still haven't seen a single episode of Breaking Bad and I've got every episode of Homeland this season unwatched on the DVR.

It seems like I have more time for the 30 minute shows as of late, than the hour long dramas. I'm dying to start Breaking Bad but the time hasn't been right. Hopefully it'll happen during the holiday season.

Oh, and I still haven't seen Season Four of Justified, which I'd like to see before the next season starts.

Yea, I catch up to The Good Wife eventually. I've heard nothing but raves about it. Just don't have the time right now and watching other shows at the moment.
