I have no memory of watching rented movies in high school. My family didn't get a VCR until after I moved out of the house in '83. Probably took that industry a while to make it to the wilds of Kirksville.

My family didn't own a VCR until around 84 or 85, but I remember a friend had one a year or so before we did. The first movies he rented were Poltergiest and Star Trek II in the summer of 83.

Star Trek II was the first movie I ever rented as well. Funny stuff.

I remember Peaches- on 75th & Metcalf was one of the few spots that carried a large selection of Beta movies to rent. Pretty cool music & movie store - and if I remember correctly they had a machine you could pick a variety of songs to create your own mix cd - way ahead of its time and never caught on & that was prob. a good decade before cd burners even started to become a consumer product. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
