Marty ball on the radar in Tampa?

mortreport Chris Mortensen
Marty Schottenheimer is on Bucs' radar but not at top; he is hungry to coach. Note that Marv Levy went to his 4th Super Bowl at age 68.

True, Grbac was playing well but Gannon was like 6-2 and playing very well.
Grbac played poorly in the final game of the season vs the Saints.

I get the frustration with him. I just like the guy and think he's a good coach that deserves more than being known as one of the biggest coaching choke artists of all time.

They all went one and done, so I'm not sure if this hurts or helps the argument.

Dude could sure as hell contend in the Regular Season though.

I know people dont traditionally think of it this way, but can we look at it a little different:

When a team has Home Field advantage or a bye, can we consider that a playoff win, since they already made the 2nd round of the playoffs?

See, that doesnt make it so bad now does it? : )

Posnanski talked about a time when, after one of the Chiefs playoff meltdowns, he asked the guys in the press room to turn off their recorders. Poz admitted he was paraphrasing, but he said Marty essentially asked, "What am I doing wrong?" Sorry, I just feel bad for him.

Add to that how much the guy cared for his players and the Chiefs franchise. Hell, I don't know if I've EVER seen a grown man cry as hard and as openly as Marty did at DT's HoF induction.

The guy's a great coach who can't get over the hump. I don't care who it's with, I'd love to see him get there.
This is why I've always liked Marty.

100% real.

And I can't EVER remember thinking "Wow, dick move, Marty."

One of the nicest guys in pro football ever, and would have won a SB if AJ Smith wasn't a reerun. At the very least he would have gotten 3 DIFFERENT teams to AFC Championship games, and that's a remarkable feat.
