Fisher to sign $35M deal
![]() http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/S...ar-deal-011712 The St. Louis Rams are set to make Jeff Fisher the NFL's second-highest paid coach, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday. Fisher, who chose the Rams over the Miami Dolphins Friday, will sign a five-year contract worth about $35 million before his formal introduction at a 2:00pm ET news conference Tuesday. His yearly salary of about $7 million is second only to Bill Belichick's $7.5 million, and tied with the Redskins' Mike Shanahan. The 53-year-old, who did not coach this season after 17 years with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, will only be given the title of head coach. However, he reportedly will be involved in the ongoing search for a general manager, and is expected to have significant input on personnel decisions. According to the NFL Network, Gregg Williams will leave the Saints to become Fisher's defensive coordinator, while Brian Schottenheimer, formerly of the Jets, is the leading contender to become the Rams' offensive coordinator. Williams' contract was up in New Orleans, and just last week he had referred to Fisher as his "best friend in coaching." Fisher is also expected to interview former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson for the offensive coordinator job, according to ESPN. |

![]() Fisher loved the deep ball on offense. He also hired an OC to throw the ball down the field late in his Titans career.

Yeah, on a play action fake after running it up the middle endlessly ala Marty during the DeBerg years.

OK. Whatever.
Can't wait to see how well our offense does with Rme Crennel as our head coach.

Let me see if I can put this into terms that Chiefs’ fans can relate too. Jeff Fisher = Matt Cassel Now what do I mean by this? Simple, compare how people look at them from afar. Both are living off what they did, for a very brief moment, in the past. In Fisher’s case he drafted a QB in the first round (during the Clinton administration) and made it to a Super Bowl (again during the Clinton administration and only got out of the first round on a miracle special teams play). In Cassel’s case he had one good year filling in for Brady, went to the Pro Bowl, and helped the Chiefs win the AFC West. However if we look closer, or if you have seen either man first hand over a period of time, you realize that neither is all that impressive. For Fisher he only made playoff runs if everything worked perfectly. Sort like how everything has to be working (running game, D, etc.) for Cassel to be successful. Hell is last playoff run, the one with Collins starting, the Titans got every bounce that could go their way.
