That said, it sure doesn't seem like this offense is putting up more than 2 TD's a game. Either that, or watching them is like crawling through broken glass, bathed in super-glue.

That's true right now, but obviously we need them to be better than that. I believe they will be.

Right now there's essentially zero margin for error because the offense isn't doing a whole lot, and at some point the fumbles may (and probably will) stop bouncing out of bounds, or the dbs may stop dropping picks. Maybe we go a couple weeks without a return TD and can't count on that extra 6+ points per week. It's a dangerous line we're straddling right now. We (fans) learned in the 90s about the pitfalls of playing close games and how they can turn late. It's easy to tell yourself everything is okay because games have been turning our way. But things tend to even out over time. The strangest part to me is how people seem intent to characterize the current offense as martyball, when it's not, in any way, shape or form. It's simply bad. They're not scoring 19.5 points/game by design. They're not controlling the ball. They're not getting many first downs. They're not converting 3rd downs. They're not doing much of anything to keep the defense off the field. The only thing thing they're doing adequately is not turning it over. But how valuable is that, really, when the average drive is maybe 2.5 minutes long, or less, and they're punting 80% of the time after 1 or if they're lucky 2 first downs? I mean, really, what is a punt after a 4 play, 12 yard series but a turnover? Hopefully it gets better. Because if it does, this team has the potential to be truly dominant. |

But you're right; the breaks are going to stop bouncing our way, and they'd better be able to do more than rely on the other 2/3's to bail them out.

On a side note, I feel like ol play league wide is just bad this year. Save for 2 or 3 teams. I really feel like defenses have started to adjust to the rules on the back end and are getting ridiculous athletes and stacking them a dl and pass rushing positions.
