The current best of the Chiefs 2008 draft (besides Charles)

Jamaal Charles is the last of the Chiefs' supposedly glorious franchise-rebuilding draft class from 2008. The others either sucked or became cap casualties.

So here's a question. If you could have any one player back on the team from this draft class at his CURRENT level of ability, who would you take?

Since this is a thought experiment, ignore contracts and money. Imagine the NFL is going to pay for all contract expenses. The Chiefs would get to keep that player on the team for as long as they want until they believe he's washed up and can't benefit the team any more.

The player must also remain at the position they played for the Chiefs. Albert doesn't get to be moved to guard. Flowers CAN, however, be the team's slot corner.

Also, I'm only including players on the list who are currently in the NFL. I know you all still think Brian Johnston has the potential to be an outstanding pass rusher, but because he's gone from the league, he's not an option.

Poll forthcoming

Sweet.
It really depends on the current coaching staff, scouting department and general manager's abilities to draft a guard.

If they picked Xavier S'ua-Filo or Gabe Jackson instead of special teams ace hopeful Dee Ford, I would have agreed with you fervently.

Well done, sir.

Your mentor must be proud of your in-depth analytical insights into refuting another's position on a particular subject.
t some point, anyone with half a brain comes to the realization that you're a ****ing clueless moron.

You throw together articulate sentences that hide that fact, but you are a clueless ****ing moron, nonetheles.

Albert never fully grasped the technique that could have maximized his potential and he had a propensity for mental lapses leading to flags, but he was, despite that fact, among the top 10 LTs in the league.

You have/had a bias toward him since the day he was drafted and in your moronacy, you simply were to stupid to admit your mistake.

Exactly.

And why he was NOT a top 10 LT in the league.

The only bias I had towards him was that he wasn't very good as an offensive tackle and probably should have been kept inside at left guard. (But god forbid that would have been mentioned here on CP, as if it was, it was met with vociferous cries of "**** you! He was a first rounder and that means he's got to be a Pro Bowl left tackle forever and ever!!!!")

Chiefs should have drafted Eugene Monroe the following year and moved him inside. Albert himself said he'd be happy to see that happen when discussing the prospects of the team potentially drafting Monroe that next season.

Truth be told, the guy was a liability on the outside. Only his base athleticism allowed him to remain there because he most certainly did not have the hands nor feet nor the understanding of the technique it requires to effectively play the position. That and that the Chiefs had no other option. They went from what should/could be considered the greatest offensive line ever assembled in Roaf/Waters/Weigman/Shields/Tait to one of the wost o-lines in football in a scant ten years.

Thankfully, that's been rectified somewhat with the drafting of Stephenson, Fisher and Hudson. And I think Allen will have a breakthrough year in 2014.

However, back to the matter at hand, Albert's career to this point most certainly hasn't been at the same level as Flowers has been. Not even remotely close.

First, you're wrong about his feet.

He had some of the quickest feet That I've ever seen, but because he never fully grasped the technique, primarily the kick slide, he never showed just how exceptional those feet could/should havce been.

But at the same time, those naturally quick feet were also largely responsible for him not being a liability.

Second, Eugene Monroe hasn't played at a level all that much higher than Albert, and he is far more advanced technically.
He has never been as great as you continue to make him out to be.

Third, the one thing we agree on is Donald Stephonson's potential, but he, like Albert, has never come close to playing to that potential, and in fact, hasn't played to the level that Albert has played at.

Again, you have a bias that you can not get past, and it makes you look like a ****ing moron.

Even though Carr has sucked in Dallas, it would be nice to have that one back considering the philosophy change...
If Dorsey would choose Carr simply for height, then Dorsey would be a moron. The only real nod I'd give to Carr is that he's been more durable and will probably play at a peak level longer.

I think Dorsey would take football skills into account.

It doesn't matter though. If Carr was here with flowers contract and Flowers was in Dallas, KC still would have released that contract. It was him or Tamba, and Tamba isn't going anywhere.
