Brawling Parents Ruin Kids' Football Season
Do you agree with the decision?
http://insider.foxnews.com/2014/10/2...-football-game Video shows a wild scene at a youth football game near Seattle, where two parents got into a brawl near the stands. One woman involved told KOMO-TV that it started when she asked another woman to stop yelling at the referees. After the fight, the game was stopped and the league banned the 9 and 10-year-old Renton Five Stars and Bothell Cougars from the playoffs. Courney Stephens and his son, Miles, joined Brian Kilmeade this morning to react to the seemingly unfair decision. "I'm disappointed," said Miles, adding that he doesn't understand why the children are being punished for the actions of adults. Mr. Stephens is demanding an apology and for the decision to be reversed by the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue (Wash.) and the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association so the kids can compete for a championship. The Boys and Girls Club said in a statement that they refuse to "put safety and sportsmanship in a second position behind a football record." Stephens recalled that the women started arguing and the situation quickly escalated into "total chaos" with punches thrown. Stephens said he ran down to try to break up the fight and was confronted by the other team's coaches. "It just got really nasty," said Stephens. Police reportedly will not charge the parents involved in the fight. Watch the fight above, along with the "Fox and Friends" interview. |

My junior year of high school we played a local rival in football and one of "our" fans climbed over the fence and decked the ref. Yes, I mean knocked him out cold.
I knew that there would be some type of punishment handed down by the state association but never could I imagine what they did. They placed our ENTIRE sports program on probation! Even the girls basketball team. They went undefeated that season and would have won the state championship yet they were ineligible to be in the playoffs (even the local county tournament) Talk about excessive. Sometimes emotions get the best of officials and they overact. I hate it for the kids who are simply playing the game and enjoying themselves. |

Actually, this may be a good way to get parents to calm the **** down if they know their actions can cost the kids their season.

I don't see a problem with it. Article even said people ran down to break up fight and were confronted by coaches. With parents and coaches involved with police showing up I can see why they did it. This is punishing the parents, they went nuts over the game. No games now. Wish they would show more of the video though. If it actually turned into a brawl or if that was it.
Kids also learned not to act like idiots like their parents. |

any parent who yells at their kid or berates them for anything other than poor attitude before they are in high school (and really, even in high school), is a ****ing idiot moron.

I coached both girls and boys basketball for 8 years. The kids and parents had to sign Conduct forms. They knew up front they could not act like jackasses but some parents still did.
Sucks the kids won't get to play-but it is the right call. |
