I got hosed on tickets to the Chiefs game @ Lambeau back in 2003. After involving the FBI and the police in the guy's area, I eventually got my money back about 6 months later.
Other than that, I've had all good experiences. |

I've bought and sold on ebay for 3 years now. Not a ton of transactions, but enough to get a blue star next to my name.
You have to use common sence, people can and do occasionally get screwed on ebay. If I am looking for an extremely expensive item, I will not buy it from someone with a small feedback score unless its at a heavy discount, and even then its with the full knowledge that I'm taking a risk. If you are buying something from someone with well over a hundred positive feedback, with very few or no negative comments, its usually a safe bet. Feedback is highly important on ebay, put yourself in the other guys shoes. You want to sell your stuff and in order to do that you need people to trust you. You are going to spend a lot of effort building up your reputation, the last thing you need is an ugly red mark on your history screaming "THIS SOB SCREWED ME, DO NOT BUY FROM HIM!!!!" Occasionally with people who have done thousands of transactions they will inevitably get a couple complaints because somebody out there will misunderstand or whine about something stupid, but as long as the feedback is in the high 90% positive, I'll trust them.

If the seller has a feedback less than 20, I wont buy anything worth more than maybe 20 bucks from them till they get more experience. I wont buy anything really expensive unless the score is at least close to 50, unless there are special safe conditions like the above. I hadnt bought anything uber-expensive yet, but I wouldnt buy something online worth $1,000+ unless the guy had a score close to 500 with 99%+ positive feedback.

I've currently got a winning $27 bid on a Priest authentic Reebok jersey. It ends in 4:30. I have my fingers crossed...

I've bought several fax machines and printers and almost all of them have something wrong with them. I've been able to fix most of them. I bought a webtv that was locked by the original owner. I won't buy anything over $50 on ebay. In contrast, my brother buys late model pickups on there.

$64 is the most I've spent on one item. That included shipping...
