Most Over-rated Ethnic Food
What's your idea of the most over-rated ethnic food?

For me it has to be Chinese food. Honestly, I can't honestly say I've EVER been Wow'd by eating a Chinese dish. It's all the same basic crap no matter where you go. Don't get me wrong, it's good. But I've never had great.

Indian food. Everyone around me loves it, I just do not connect with it much. I like different and new things and it just is not for me.

You think that all Chinese food is the same because all you go to are Americanized Cantonese places. China has the most diverse gastronomy of any cuisine.

Most overrated ethnic food for me? I guess Ethiopean. I don't feel strongly that any ethnic cuisine is overrated though.

Ethiopian. Was not impressed after hearing so much hype.
I think Tibetan is very underrated.

For Chinese, if you're having it from a mall or take-out you get what you paid for (chic balls, fried rice, etc.). Actual Chinese food from an authentic Chinese dumpling house can be incredible. I'm not too far from Chinatown where there are some wonderful restaurants.

I went to an Ethiopian restaurant in my area and found it to be a very hearty, flavorful meal. It was a stew of some sort (twat?)
