Fund raising opportunity for 37 Forever?
Didn't know if anyone had seen this or would be interested...
NON-PROFITS HAVE FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES AT ARROWHEAD Jul 27, 2005, 4:48:14 AM Centerplate, Inc., the exclusive concessionaire for Arrowhead Stadium, is gearing up for another Chiefs season and is seeking ares non-profit groups to manage and operate concession stands throughout Arrowhead Stadium on game days. For the 34th consecutive year, employees and volunteers from local non-profit organizations will have an opportunity to serve food and beverages to thousands of Chiefs fans attending events at Arrowhead. Thanks to Centerplate, local non-profits have been able to utilize money earned at Chiefs games to benefit their various causes. Interested groups must commit for all Arrowhead football games and must be able to bring 12 or more people to work in a concession stand selling alcoholic beverages and ball park food. New groups joining the program can expect to earn $700-$1,000 per even based on their group’s participation. Initial group expenses are as low as $7 per person for those 21 years and over and $5 dollars a person for those workers 16-20 years of age, according to Centerplate. Uniforms are provided, as is training, free parking and food. If your group is interested and would like more information about Centerplate’s non-profit Arrowhead Stadium program, please contact Lea-Suzanne Avila at 816/921-4700 or email your name and address to lea.avila@centerplate.com. http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2005/07..._at_arrowhead/ |

Thanks for posting this. Obviously our cause is one in which I'm highly passionate. I'd love to have the local bodies to pull this off. I'm not sure we do.
Show of hands. Who would be interested in supporting such an effort for 37 Forever? |

I wish I could volunteer for every home game, but I have family obligations on some of the weekends. If you will take part time volunteers I can be part of the Planet Brigade....

If you don't already have Chiefs tickets, it's a good way to get into the stadium and feel the atmosphere. And I think they have TV's at each concession stand.

In my experience with fund raising for little league teams having the parents work concessions at a Chiefs or Royals game amounted to about minimum wage for the parents time. They hated doing it. missing the game. Putting up with drunks. etc.

I've done this a time or two for fundraisers for wrestling in school and another youth thing.
Its alot of work, alot of jerkoffs nagging at you if you're in the wrong stand, and in the long run, didn't seem like they made that much money for the time. It might be worth it if you weren't driving 3-4hrs to do that all day and drive home..that might be worse. If I were available I'd help, but truthfully, I'd rather come down, watch a game and throw fiddy in the hat. |

This is kinda what I expected and that's not a bad thing.... Maybe it's something we look at in future years, but I think it would amount to a giant headache for the guy in charge at this juncture. I have enough headaches.

It will be interesting to see how this works out at Arrowhead, They tried this last year here at Petco park and it was a miserable failure in that the volunteers for the non-profits were horrible as concession workers creating long lines, unhappy customers and a ton of lost business. It seems the biggest problem was lack of training made for bad concession stand workers.
