Chief needs

just a quick look at addictions and subtractions and what areas of need will be addressed in the draft or later in FA.

Staying:
Howard -DT
Johnson -ILB
Berry - S
Zombo - ILB
Hail - OLB

Departed:
Smith - CB (Oak)
Stephenson - OL (Den)
Allen - OL (Tex)
Daniel - QB (Phi)
Grubbs - OL (FA)
Branch - S (Ari)

Acquired:
Schwartz - OL (Cle)
Massaquoi - OLB (Atl)
Obada - DE/TE (FA)

With the moves made as of today where do you go with the first pick in the draft? What is our biggest hole right now?

I think you have to go CB in round one if there is a guy available of a Marcus peters caliber available. I'm not sold on Gaines or Nelson being a #1/#2 guy. I'm also worried about WR. We need a good compliment to Maclin, someone who can step into the #1 slot and be just as effective as Maclin. I'm also concerned about our backup QB position. As we saw last year, good teams have capable backups who can step in and win 3-5 games and keep playoff hope alive while a starter recovers from an injury. I'm not sure Bray or Murray fits that definition.

Overall om pleased with Dorsey this is way better than any other GM since I have been a fan.

Thoughts?

I think Gaines is GOOD enough to be the #2.... However, we can't bank on it with his health concerns, so I think we grab a Hayward or Amukamara. Both guys in very similar situations to Sean Smith after his first contract.

Bud, I don't think there's anyone in Marcus Peters' stratosphere in this draft, but I agree with corner being a need

We're not going to find a Peters in this draft, but we can definitely find a Darby.

Ha, Sean smith maybe? Idk I don't follow college ball. I just think we need another guy that can play lock down ball.

So you are not sold on Ford being the guy to replace Hali?

Hasn't looked like it so far.

More importantly, the Chiefs don't appear to think Ford is that guy.

They wouldn't have just given Hali that new contract if they were confident in Dee Ford.

I'm on the Amukamara bandwagon, although he might cost more than he's worth, given his injury history

This thread should have been titled "Chief needs for the Kansas City Chiefs".

That's what I was just going to ask about, the injury aspect. I'd prefer not to sign the next sanders comings.

lots of injury time and only 7 ints in 5 years

Pass defenses are in double digits in each of the last 3 seasons, even missing so many games.
