Hey, that ball comes pretty fast. When I played center, I wasn't interested in holding onto the ball too long. If the QB doesn't have his hand in the right place, it's entirely plausible that a finger can get whacked.
I don't know if this is what happened yesterday. I'm just saying that I can envision a pinky getting broken by a botched snap. |

Okay... I'll admit, I was dumb enough to break my thumb my sophomore year on the center snap so can vouch it's possible.
I thought he hurt his left hand on that previous hit.. I could be wrong though, KC scoring 54 points kind of had a numbing efect on me. |

That's possible, JQ. That's why I thought the media was incorrectly reporting that his right hand was broken when I thought for sure I saw him shaking his left hand. Maybe he was favoring his left hand and that's how he managed to break the right hand on the snap. I'd still be interested in having someone review the tape though. Any volunteers?
While you're at it, determine if Warner made any effort to recover the botched snap. As I recall, he continued to drop back then stood there stupidly with the ball just lying on the ground.... |

I am overjoyed that the Chiefs pounded the Rams.
I do still like Warner, maybe not so much for his play on the field, but his convictions. He is a man that stands by his word. (He's actually a fair to medlin QB. ------------------ Remember Joe Delaney? Some of us do and are acting on our belief that he was a hero. I don't remember him making any effort to go after the ball... he was VERY frustrated at that point and it showed.
I think either the center snapped the ball early or Kurt forgot the snap count.... My thumb got broken because the snap was on first sound, and being the bright bulb that I am, I started to call an audible..... |

I watched the tape last night and was paying particular attention to Warner's hand because earlier in the day I had seen on the sports ticker that he was gonna break a finger during the game. Thus, I remember distinctly that he was shaking his left hand after the sack, but came out with his right finger taped after half time. I didn't notice whether he chased into the pile for the fumbled ball. By all accounts, the media account of him breaking on the snap sounds accurate. That doesn't mean that the damaged left hand and the mental pressure Warner was experiencing by eating (real) grass so many times weren't contributing factors. Arrowhead is a tough place to play QB.

On the the previous possesion Kurt got whacked in the LEFT hand. I saw it from the stands and on the tape. That's why the rumor in the crowd yesterday was that the injury was to his middle left finger. But then we saw him after the half with the headset on and his pinky and ring finger taped together on his right hand. My Dad was watching from home and thought it was a conspiracy. I was confused as hell untill after the game I heard it was on the snap. As far as him going for the ball. From what I recall the Chiefs pounced him thinking they had him sacked about a yard behind the scrimmage line, and everyone thought the play was over untill the ball came out of the crowd and Donnie grabbed it. Heads up to Faulk, who seemed to be the only Ram who knew the ball was loose, for tackling Donnie.
