Congratulations Red Sox. World Series Champs!

Congratulations RED SOX fans!

I’ve taken a gut punch from some Planet members for being a Cardinals fan. While I’m doubled over in pain, some other Chiefs Planet members beat me about the head and shoulders till I collapsed into a withering incoherent mess of a human being. At my most vernable point Alichiefs put a clown suit on me. It’s all good clean fun.

I would like to thank all of the Chiefs Planet members that have pm’d me and sent emails over the last few weeks to let me know they were also Cardinal fans. They didn’t want to post and then get roughed up by a hater. Such is life on the Planet. This is a Chiefs BB, not a baseball one. Yes, we do talk about other things besides Chiefs football but this will be my last Cardinal thread that I will start here on the planet.

IMHO the series turned on:
1. Game 1 bases loaded, 1 out, bottom of the eighth, game tied. Rolen and Edmond coming up. We get zero runs.
2. 8 Red Sox errors in the first two games and the Cardinals can’t take advantage of them. If the Cardinals would have won Game 1 and the series all the talk would have been about Manny's dumb play costing the Red Sox the series.
3. In game 3 runners on 2nd and 3rd no outs. 1 run game. Walker, Pujols, Rolen and Edmonds due up. 0 runs scored. That base running mistake by Suppan was totally embarrassing. Little leaguers know better.
4. In game 3 bases loaded. 1 out. 1 run game. Edmonds at the plate. 0 runs scored.

When the season began even the biggest homer among us Cardinal fans never expected us to make it to the World Series. We had no pitching. We won 105 games and beat a damn good Houston team to make it to the series. Not a bad season. We have Rolen and Pujols signed to long term deals. We will get another shot at the World Series again someday soon. Only one team can win the World Series. We have 9 World Championships to soothe the wounds of losing our chance for a tenth.

The Red Sox have been waiting 86 years for a championship. The Red Sox were playing better baseball these last 4 games. They deserve to win. To say the Cardinals blew the series or choked is the same as saying that the Red Sox were lucky, that the Cardinals gave the series to them. That the Red Sox were no good and that St. Louis choking is the only reason they are the World Series Champions. Let the Red Sox have their moment in the sun. They have earned it.
Congratulations RED SOX fans!

A couple of things to clear up :
For the moron Cardinal fans that must have an excuse other than we just got beat by a better team I offer these excuses.
1. The phantom 3rd strike on Edmonds with the bases loaded in Game 1,
2. We lost our best pitcher to injury before the series began.
3. Phobia jumped on our bandwagon and derailed it.

The Cardinal fans that think the bad call at first cost us the 1985 World Series are morons. It didn't help us but Jack Clark's dropped foul ball didn't help, losing Vince Coleman our lead off hitter and spark plug to jump start Whitey Ball didn't help, getting our ass's handed to us in game 7 didn't help. The next day after the call I was telling people to shut up about the call. Please just let it go Cardinal fans. It’s been 19 years.
The Royals beat us fair and square. Let them crow about it and talk smack. It’s the smack of the righteous. The Royal fans here are good fans. They have stuck with their team even though they have no chance of winning a World Series in the foreseeable future. Reminds me of the loyalty of Cardinal fans.

Now lets go get some payback on Peyton and co. this Sunday.

Who the hell cares? This is Kansas City where we are usually out of the baseball mode by May or June. Go to Red Sox or Cardinals board.

Who are you to tell me to take a hike? Have you made some significant contribution to the bb? You are the new admin running off the riff raff?

I would like to think that I'm an addition to the board and not a subtraction. But I've been known to be wrong. nevertheless....

Not sure which thread in which to post this, but I guess this one will do ...

I hate all things St. Louis, but I have got to give major props to the Cards fans. The way they applauded for Boston was perhaps the classiest thing I've ever seen.

I may not like the team, but St. Louis baseball fans have got to be, without a doubt, some of the best in all sports. Very, very impressive.

Well, at least a team won that was really deserving.

It dulls the pain slightly...

Mark M, I appreciate the comments. I'm guilty as hell about sticking out my chest about my team. I think thats cool for any fan to do. I think the line thats not suppose to be crossed gets blurry when you trash talk another team to feel good about your team.

The Royals beat us fair and square in 1985.

The Red Sox swept us in 4 games.

Nothing but props should be given to the victor.

I didn't bring it up 'til now due to superstition [so much for that now]. But the morning after the first game of the WS, I was taking the trash to the dumpster in the alley. Laying there on the ground about 5 feet from the dumpster was a dead cardinal.

Spooky.

I really want to post something but my head is still spinning and I have no idea what the hell is going on.

Big Red, your boys have a good team but unfortunatly they had to play a team that was just on a huge roll. I wish you guys put up a fight, it really would have been a good series. Maybe we can do it again next year!

you know.... Baseball is a real shitty sport these days. No salary cap, no steroid testing. But the Bosox didnt have the huge payroll of the yanks or the cards, and that makes things a little better anyway. All I have to say is, I never rooted for Boston, but only rooted against the yanks and the cards.
