Last #1 pick to win a S.B.????

I was casually watching the Sunday night game and thought of Eli being a #1 pick. How likely are they to win a S.B. with him ... I mean pertencage wise? Then the question came ... who was the last #1 pick to actually help his team win a S.B.?

Seems like teams are better off not being quite so bad off when they start rebuilding than to draft in first position.

I believe that would be Orlando Pace taken by the Rams in the 97 draft.

Just off the top of my head. I can't think of anyone who's won it after him.

Manila brings up a good point. #1 overall does not have a good track record of bringing SB victory to the drafting team. However, this could easily be becuase to qualify for #1 overall, you have to really, really, suck.

I guess throwing the winning TD pass in the AFC championship game doesn't count for much with you, huh?

John Elway

Troy Aikman

Peyton Manning is making INDY a contender year in and year out .....

Drafting a QB 1st is usually a good start.

At least during the years that there is a consensus "blue chip" QB to take 1st (None of this Alex Smith - Tim Couch business).
