TBT, I agree the better team won today. There rushing game and "dink and dunk" attack killed our "soft underneath, drop 7 players 15 yards off the ball defense." I thought KC played pretty well, really. Three plays really hurt us and two were by rookies. First, the fumble inside the 15 by Morris was devasting. Whether it was truly a fumble or not is no longer at issue. Second, Wesley over running that duck thrown by Gannon to Brown on fourth and one. Finally, Bush not looking back to the QB on
Wheatley's TD catch. ARGGGHHHH!! We wanted young players to see action and they are going to make some costly mistakes. I accept that and am willing to live with it. AZ |

I'm with you all the way. I would argue that the Chiefs rookies cost us this game today . . . at least partially. Wesley blew some assignments. Morris misran some routes. Dennis, IMO, played the best game I've seen him play so far. Moreau even had a few nice runs, that was good to see. BUT, like I said, you could say that the rookies cost us today. But you know what? That's okay. When you have an eye towards the future you have to play your younger players and let them develop. There WILL be mistakes along the way. Today we saw that. We will lose some games because of rookie mistakes. But that's okay, because it will pay off in the long run. GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I agree. Kurt S. called a conservative game on defense dropping back all the DBs and LBs and not putting any of the young DBs on an "island." I hated to see it and every dink and dunk hurt but we did hold them to 20 points. That should've been enough to win. It was a tough loss but I like to see the young kids on the field. That all being said, next week could be painful.

BTW, just to clarify. My last post was not meant to imply that the Raiders didn't win this game today. They did . . . CLEARLY.
There were, however, some rookie mistakes. But we'll have to live with that for a while. That's okay by me. |

I agree the rookies cost us, but if we would have maintained the same game plan for the second half, they would not have been that big of deal. We don't have a killer instinct, as long as we are ahead by more than a touchdown, we are happy. This has to stem from the playcalling and coaching. A new coach, new coordinators, certainly not Shaw, would inherit a young team to build on, then, and only then could I see light at the end of the tunnel. I have said this many times, the Chiefs win half their games, in spite of the coaching, not because of it.

Next week? Oh please, don't talk about that. My head hurts just thinking about what's going to happen next week. It won't be pretty. I love my Chiefs as much as anyone, but the realist in me says the Chiefs will have a tough time staying with the Rams the whole game. Do I think we can put points on the board? Yes. Do I think we can stay with the Rams? Unfortunately, no. But who knows? Maybe they'll surprise me? |

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the coaching staff. We're slowly putting together a younger, more exciting team. We need younger, more dynamic and creative coaches to go along with that. I would not be unhappy to see Gunther, Jimmy, Kurt, & Mike all go after this year. I don't have anything against Gunther, but he just isn't the right guy to coach this team. |

I've promised myself that I'm not going to overreact after this loss. I think the coaching is just as inconsistent as the execution of the plays. I still really like Gun's passion. Kurt and Raye...I promised I wouldn't overreact...

I'm sorry and or happy that I was driving back from Lubbock,Tx this afternoon and I missed the game. It sounds like they didn't play well enough and the refs helped. I don't think I could have took the agravation.

Overreact? Never. Not me.
Actually, I use to spit, curse, throw things, kick things, yell, etc. BUT I no longer do any of those things anymore. My 6 year old son watches the games with me now and I figure I'm not setting a real good example for him if I do those things over something as trivial as a football game. It doesn't send a very good message. NOW, don't misunderstand me. I'm as much a DIE-HARD as anyone. The 'trivial' comment only looks at the logical standpoint of things. Logic tends to go out the door, climb up the ladder and jump off when the game is on. I have managed to control myself on the outside, but inside of me Armegeddon is taking place. I may not DO anything, but inside my gut is wrenching, my stomach is twisting, my heart is pumping fiercely, my blood-pressure is rising, and my veins begin to make a surface appearance at different points and times. I may not SAY anything, but inside a constant merry-go-round is rotating in my head with EVERY curse word spoken in the history of mankind coming to my attention. I've even had some bad words in diff. languages come into my head before. But, nevertheless, I just sit there: in my recliner, motionless, staring at the TV with a scowl that would make Jon Gruden piss his pants! For some reason, my wife never approaches me during those times. Wonder what her problem is? Go figure. |

TBT,
You sound like a great role model for your son. Sadly, I am still the "old" you. Every game I feel myself realizing I need to bury these, often public, tantrums. I've got a big birthday coming up in April. There's something about a 30 year old crying at after a football game that doesn't really appeal to me. Any suggestions? Well said, TBT.
I'm not looking for scapegoats or a place to point the finger. I can accept loss & move on hoping for the best. Congrats to Oakland fans! |
