SM West girl abducted

Im sure most of you have seen this in the news but if not it cant hurt to post it in case anybody here might of seen something.

Missing woman reward now $20,000

Investigators today are going through sex offender registries and have found dozens who live in this area. They also are following leads that come in and continue to look for a person of interest who was seen at the store about the same time as Kelsey Smith.

Smith, a recent Shawnee Mission West High School graduate, has been missing since Saturday evening when she didn’t return home from running an errand at the Target at 97th Street and Quivira Road. Enhanced surveillance video shows someone running up behind Kelsey as she was getting in her car. The individual pushed Kelsey inside.

Smith’s family announced today that a reward for information in the case has been increased to $20,000 through donations.

As investigators keep up with leads in the case, her parents are making the rounds with the national media today.

The goal, said dad Greg Smith, is to make sure everyone knows his daughter is still out there somewhere.

“Anybody that will let me get on the air and put my daughter’s face out there, that’s great,” Smith said this morning. “Someone knows something.”

Friends are canvassing the area around Target and the Oak Park Mall with fliers again today, wanting to saturate Johnson County with pictures of Kelsey.

Greg Smith said the enhanced surveillance video only confirms what family has thought from the beginning.

“From the moment we heard her car turned west instead of east, I knew somebody had her,” Smith said, referring to tape that shows Kelsey’s car turning left out of Target. If she were headed home she would have turned right.

Smith said the family is even more determined to find his daughter and keep her face and name in the news.

“We’re going to bring you home Kelsey,” he said. “We’re bringing you home, baby.”

My wife is freaking out because we're right down the street and she goes to the mall all the time. I told her to get a tan.

I was amazed this wasn't on here earlier, actually. It's strange because I work with her. Last Thursday she was happy and all.

I'm really surprised that no one saw anything. She was abducted at Target at 7pm - it's still light then and that's a busy area.

The car was found by Macy's - I'm surprised they don't have security footage of when the car was ditched there. As that was previously a Jones store, I'm sure they had surveillance everywhere...

At least the Hornbeck situation is a recent enough event to prove to everyone to never lose hope

New surveillance video shows 'activity' after girl puts her purchases in the car. Two bodies close together, but there's not a lot we can see as the tape exists. They've sent the video in for enhancement.

Funny that the "person of interest" hasn't either turned himself in and all.

I'm more inclined to believe that this "person of interest" is becoming a "suspect" in a hurry.
