SEATTLE -- Brock Huard has replaced Jon Kitna as the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback, coach Mike Holmgren announced Wednesday.

Huard, a Puyallup, Wash., native who starred at the University of Washington, will make his first start Sunday in Carolina against the Panthers.

Holmgren based the decision on Kitna's subpar play for the 2-3 Seahawks. Kitna's performance in Monday's 24-17 loss to the Chiefs didn't help his cause as he fumbled three snaps and failed to complete any of the six long passes. Kitna has been sacked 19 times this season.
