Deja Vu, all over again
Since this is on both the park and the planet, I'd thought I'd xerox my comments from there ...
Yes, people in KC do listen to him. I do every once and a while and find him kinda funny, although not hysterical ... and a lot less political than Imus (often funnier as well). Afterall, I talk politics all day the boards—why listen to it while stuck in traffic?! As far as the music goes, you're correct, even though I enjoy some of it. They do play trailer trash rock ... looks like they finally found a town rich with their target audience. ;) FWIW, he's been on a while here in KC, is from here, and does a lot of good for the community. Not defending him, just explaining. If you don't like him, turn the station or call your monkey (otherwise known as the station manager) and b!tch to him/her about it. There's probably a reason they switched. MM ~~If forced to choose between Imus and Dare, will take Dare.

Trailer Trash Rock? Ok, this is a new one on me. What bands would classify?

IMO Lynrd Skynrd is the undisputed king of "trailer trash" rock.
It's kinda like "gangsta" rap. Not everyone who listens to it is trailer trash, it is a humorous (IMO) generalization. Being trailer trash in my youth, I can certainly vouch for the term's accuracy! A few more come to mind that could fall into that category, and many are 80s glam rock bands: Whitesnake, Motley Crue, etc. |

30--
Groups like Motley Crue, Dokken, Quiet Riot, Tesla, Nazareth, Guns-n-Roses, ... typical hair band stuff. To put it another way, if you've seen a white guy in the sticks arrested on an episode of Cops, and that guy is wearing a concert t-shirt (most likely black, sticking out of his back pocket or wadded up in one hand while the other hand clenches a spent Basic brand cigarette), one of the above bands (among others) is probably on it. Of course, I own a Tesla and a G-n-R album, so I guess I'd qualify. red-- LOL!! (Seriously ... I laughed out loud). MM ~~Hoping to step up to a double wide ... someday.

I've listened to it... ONCE!
The show is terrible! If I want to hear a no-talent hack play crappy rock music, there are dozens of *FM* stations I can get that on. Why put it on a talk radio station on AM? Imus was a far superior show with more subtance. Anybody can be Johnny Dare. They could've taken one of the tards from a "special school" and stuck him behind a mike and achieved the same results. In fact, that would probably be more entertaining! At least I could get a few laughs... |

Actually, I'd have to say radio-wise the most hideous thing KC ever produced is Mancow Mueller. If you've never heard him, imagine Howard Stern with a political agenda possessed by a fucking demon. It personally embarrasses me when this douchebag announces he's from originally from KC.
And no, I don't listen to him anymore - haven't for years. I just know he's still there. |

Yeah, Mancow is the supreme jackass radio personality from KC. Combine Beevis and Butthead, add a pandering resentment of everyone more talented and famous, and then divide by 10. The result would be smarter, funnier and more personable than Mancow. He's the Dumbass's Dumbass; his cult of personality is based in a target demographic of sh*tsacks so sad that even the WWF ignores it.

Actually I enjoy Dare, the music they play is a little old for my taste as right now I have Godsmack and Disturbed playing on the MP3 player. I dislike Howard Sterns show greatly, and probably enjoy Dare because he is more down to Earth. Of course if they took over a time slot that I enjoyed I would probably be upset about it as well. Of course if I was a fan of Whitlock I would be even more upset because he is so jealous of the ratings Dare gets.
In Omaha you get Todd and Tyler in the morning, which is what I had to listen to before this, and it played even worse music. After less then a year I had to turn to a station that played early's 80's pop instead of listening to them babble. Morphius Luckily short drive to work. |
