The Kansas City Chiefs got into the playoffs last year with a 9-7 record on a tiebreaker. When I saw them in training camp, I thought this could be a long year. They were going to try to break in a young QB (Brodie Croyle), and anytime you do that, no matter what his ability, it's going to be a tough season.

Add the loss of running back Larry Johnson for most of the year, along with an aging offensive line, and it's going to be a struggle. The Chiefs are a team that has been consistently completive for many years and have been able to avoid the rebuilding period they are now in. Fans in Kansas City should be thankful for all the winning years and rally around this rebuilding effort.

Which is a total wash so far. Reggie had a good rookie season, Mario Williams was the invisible man. This year Reggie sucked and Mario was good. So we can't judge Charley from that.

Let's look at Texans history before last year. Not exactly a prolific team...and it was built by Casserly. So I think I'll pass on taking advice from him.

In fairness it's better to take a DE over a RB in the top of the first round 9 out of 10 times if you are a bad team. Williams career will almost certainly be longer.
