Maclin update 8/31

MU receiver Maclin may practice this week

By MIKE DeARMOND

The Kansas City Star

An MRI on Sunday revealed Missouri All-American Jeremy Maclin has a strained peroneal tendon in his left ankle.
But according to MU sports information director Chad Moller:
“We got good news today on the follow-up MRI. It came back clean. . . He’s going to give it a go this week in practice in hopes that he can play Saturday.”
Missouri plays Southeast Missouri State 6 p.m. Saturday in Columbia

Excellent news.

If it were up to me, I think I might hold him out of next week's game regardless.

I'd just like to slap him upside the head for the way he completely mishandled the second half last night.

It's weird. Everyone including Missouri fans were up in arms about Pinkel and how he was trash.

And then last year hit.

And apparently everyone forgot all his boneheadedness.

Was it bad?? yes.. But Illinois is a good team and they just showed everyone that MU corners are not good.. It was bad how easy it was for those guys to blow by the MU cb's...

Playcalling was crap also, but I attribute that to it been the first game.. I am sure they will get the kinks worked out.. But they definitely need to rest Maclin so he does not get hurt worse..

He kept his boneheadedness contained for the most part last year. But every now and then it still gets out.

If we had pounded the ball last night in the second half, the score wouldn't have been close. There would have been no great momentum shift, no hope for Illinois to build upon.

I know. I'm commenting on how people wanted his head after multiple seasons of failure and abysmal decision making. Now, it's ignored, until it comes out again. And then it's immediately forgiven.

He almost gave away the KU game last year. He almost gave away this game this year. And he gave away multiple games (and seasons) in years past.

I just am merely pointing out that the loyalty of the base seems awful forgiving after calling for his head all the time previously.

Man hopefully he makes a quick recovery, I have watched him a decent bit since last year, and his 99 yard return against Illinois was impressive. I always hate seeing people get injured, all the hard work, time and effort that they put into football can go down the crapper in one play. Congrats on the win Mizzou fans.

Well, some MU fans would easily forgive him for having 3 winning seasons in a row, which hasn't been accomplished since 1978 to 1983 by a Warren Powers MU teams, where they won 6 straight winning seasons, 4 of the six where they were bowl bound.

Quote:
1978 8-4-0 Warren Powers -Liberty Bowl
1979 7-5-0 Warren Powers - Hall of Fame Bowl
1980 8-4-0 Warren Powers - Liberty Bowl
1981 8-4-0 Warren Powers - Champs (Tangerine) Bowl
1982 5-4-2 Warren Powers
1983 7-5-0 Warren Powers
He's no Dan Devine yet, but he can easily eclipse him if he continues to have this type of success with Missouri. He already has appeared in 4 bowl games, winning 2 of them.
