Chiefs 09 draft-Herm's here's your clues...

Since the team is way out of contention and seems to have very little of an overall game-plan, I thought I would help point them in the right direction and help free up Herm and Carl's collective brain cell and do the work for them-hey, it's not like they couldn't use the help, evidenced by their abyssmal team. I'm basing the draft off of just 7 picks, one in each round. WITHOUT the combine-I don't need no stinkin' combine-lol.

1st Round-DE, Brian Orakpo, U of Texas. Orakpo just won the nations top defensive player and top defensive end in college football recently. He has a quick first step and a great finisher with good football instincts. He's a well-rounded DE, who can get after the QB AND contain the run. He's doesn't posses elite speed, which I prefer in SPEED-rushers(imagine that), but his overall work ethic, football savvy, and skill translates to becoming a quality player at the next level.

2nd Round-DT, B.J. Raji, Boston College-Raji is quickly climbing up the charts because DTs that can sack the QB are rare. One of the leaders of a defense that ranked 8th overall in the nation. Raji amassed 33 tackles, 11 for loss, 7 sacks, and 4 pass break-ups this year alone. Add Raji to Dorsey and we could have the makings of one of the best DT tandems in football for years to come.

3rd round-OLB, Zack Follett, Cal-One of the fearless leaders of the Cal defense. Follett is a hardcore football player with a nose for the ball and ball carrier. Zack also loves to make opposing teams QB twitch in fear. In Follett's collegiate career, he amassed 147 tackles and 18 sacks. He isn't one of the faster LBers(which I typically prefer), but I think he would be a good fit, Lord knows we could use a pass-rushing Lber, that also plays the run very well. A steal in the 3rd round.

4th round-FS, Rashad Johnson, Alabama-one of the best ball-hawking safeties in all of college and a leader of the Crimson Tide defense. Known in Alabama a "Mr. Everywhere", the name sure applies, because Rashad is all over the field. In his career at 'Bama, Johnson has 134 tackles, 11 INTs, 2 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. Did I also mention he hits like a ton of lead bricks?

5th Round-MLB, Worrell Williams,Cal-Another Cal player, who is the younger brother of Denver's D.J. Williams. Williams isn't an elite prospect, but he hasn't even come close to hitting his ceiling. He's certainly got potential and he helps fill a huge void. In his collegiate career, he has 131 tackles, and 2 sacks. He's a good MLB/OLB prospect.

6th round-QB, Chase Holbrook, New Mexico-Assuming we miss out on the top QBs, we had to go another route, but I still don't entirely ignore the position. Holbrook has broken almost every major passing record that New Mexico had to offer, which isn't saying much, but he's done a good job, given the talent around him. He's got the prototypical size and arm strength, you look for in a QB. He's got talent, he's just raw, which is why he will fall. Lack of talent around him is what drops Holbrook to the bottom of the draft and we use that to our advantage.

7th round-OG-Cedric Dockery, U of Texas, One of the foundations for the Longhorns offense. Dockery was considered one of the top O-line prospects last year. His play has been great at times, and less than stellar, at others. He has all-world potential, but mental lapses drops him to the end of the draft. Some say he tried to over-compensate for others on the O-line. He's worth taking a shot on in the 7th round.

Obviously, you can't fill every hole. I didn't intend for the draft to be so defensively oriented, but felt the actual players, gave us the most bang for our buck. Hey, it's not like we couldn't use some help on defense, anyway.

Thoughts?

No offense, but at what point do Herm and Co get held accountable for the DL and LB's? We have first day picks all over the DL and they suck worse that Claythan on 1$ draft night at the local queer bar...

Are we going to continue every year spending picks on the DL, when our talent evaluation is questionable at best and the ability to coach and develop talent is a big void?

I hate drafting stupid players, and BJ Raji is stupid.

All of your players will go at least 1-2 rounds before you list them (Holbrook, Williams, Dockery, Rashad Johnson

Orakpo just doesn't excite me that much, not that I know anymore about it than anyone else.

Rerun, that's why I'M giving them the clues, so they don't **** it up again. LOL.

All kidding aside, this isn't about, WHO within the organization drafts said players, rather that we do draft said players.

Also, You know I how I feel about Carl and Herm-I'd love to see them shown the door-but until the D-line is fixed we must attempt to improve it.

I guess if you throw enough money and parts at it, eventually you will fix it...

You cant miss that many years in a row, I mean look at Detriot and their WR situation... They eventually fixed it...

I don't give a shit if he has an IQ of 2, if he produces on the field. They could line up Sarah Palin and if she got to the QB, I'd be pleased. We aren't in a position to be choosy. Raji can either play or he can't-I say he can.

Also, I did ALOT of RESEARCH, the players named are slotted to go where I put them, especially considering we will be drafting HIGH in EVERY round.

Doubt Orakpo will be on the board by the time the Chiefs draft. Don't see a need to draft a DT in round 2 when there are so many greater needs (DE, RT, RG, QB, LB).

Look at the draft prospects and you'll see why. This is a heavily defensive oriented draft, if your looking for value. There's obviously some top O-lineman, but the best prospects will be gone by round 3. You can only do so much with 7 picks. These are VALUE picks.

Well I don't think some of those guys will be there at those picks. And you're completely ignoring the offense with this draft other than a longshot 6th and 7th pick who won't contribute. That usually won't fly...

I like the picks, but the likelihood of this is way out there...
