That your kids will or wont eat?

Gave the boy some $blue cheese$ yesterday the face he made almost put me into hysterics ( coulda been the vino ). He also doesnt care for anything he thinks I have made remotely 'spicey'. He has learned that if he doesnt like something he just says 'to spicey' and makes a face, i make him eat it 95% of the time anyway.

Ramen noodles - good lord those things are gross. i ate em when i was a kid, but the girl eats maybe 2 packs a day ( then wonders why her stomach hurts). Couldnt figure out why the kids were never hungry at diner time.
come to find out they were eating 3-4 packs of ramen after school between the two of em....

My older son likes practically nothing. The little one (he's 3) will eat almost anything. Even when I cook fish he'll eat it, the older one almost has a meltdown if fish is within 3 feet of his plate, unless it's a fish-stick.

LOL, it's funny, you would swear my kids don't eat anything all day long because they come home from school starving and then don't want to eat supper.

Last week my daughter told me she was going to become a vegetarian...then I brought home pizza topped with bacon. She's not a vegetarian yet. lol

I was never really a picky eater. I'm seeing now that I'm older I tend to like more veggies on my foods, burgers, pizza's etc. When I was little I would just want plain cheeseburgers, pizza's. I was the kid that picked off anything that wasn't meat n cheese. Now I love supreme pizzas (still hate olives and mushrooms).

Trade names of monosodium glutamate include Ajinomoto, Vetsin, and Accent. It was once predominantly made from wheat gluten, but is now mostly made from bacterial fermentation; it is acceptable for celiacs following a gluten-free diet.[1][2][3][4]

Although traditional Asian cuisine had often used seaweed extract, which contains high concentrations of glutamic acid, it was not until 1907 that MSG was isolated by Kikunae Ikeda. MSG was subsequently patented by Ajinomoto Corporation of Japan in 1909. In its pure form, it appears as a white crystalline powder which rapidly dissociates into sodium cations and glutamate anions on contact with water (glutamate is the anionic form of glutamic acid).

Sorry, it's not supreme pizza if you pick off the olives and 'shrooms.

My oldest girl (17) is a healthy eating nazi who enjoys the shit out of letting me know why all the things I love don't love me back. My youngest girl doesn't like anything with fish in it but other than that she's good to go.

"Recent research has proposed that too much glutamate causes excessive brain cell excitation which can lead to cell death. It has been further suggested that this could play a part in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntingdon's but the part that dietary glutamates contribute is still controversial.

Other research suggests that MSG is behind the obesity epidemic. Since no strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, scientists have to create them in order to study obesity. They make them obese by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas produces, causing rats to become insulin resistant and obese. The Glutamate Association (manufacturers and users of MSG) themselves claim that MSG encourages people to eat more citing institutionalised elderly people as a positive example. A study of diabetics showed that MSG led to increased consumption of food to which MSG had been added (1). Some people have even suggested that MSG could be classed as addictive for this reason. "

We're lucky with our daughter (6) and food. She likes most vegetables and is okay with fish as long as it's a mild fish like tilapia or cod. She's a big fan of pastas but without sauce, just olive oil and parmesan usually. A plus for us is that she's not a big fan of fast food restaurants. Unfortunately, she is a big fan of their toys and the grandparents usually give in to that.

I can't get her to eat shrimp, even fried. I thought all kids liked deep fried shrimp. Also, she's not much of a meat eater, but I guess that's ok. And like most kids, she doesn't like foods mixed together. For instance, she likes potatoes and green beans, but not together in a stew.

I think mostly she's a good eater cause she's hungry. Kid eats like a horse....or at least a pony.

Same here. Mine has a huge appetite after school but not so much at dinner. I think their body clocks are just set that way.

I'll never forget the look on my boys' faces. We were at the deli deciding what we wanted when they both noticed this funny looking meat called head cheese. I encouraged them to try a bite, it's about the best thing in the case. Just as they started chewing I told the exactly what it was and how it's made.
