Cassel will be fine

Im confident the kid will do the job. He has the poise, and the intellegence to be a good quarterback in this league. That comes from Len, and I'll take his word.

Im sure many of you are smart enough to not allow these reporters to convince you he is in trouble. He'll probably have his share of pains? Many QB's do anyway. It's expected when you're taking over a losing team, and placed in a new environment with a new coach, system, and players. The pains will come as he adapts to the learning process and that is understandable.

We are aware many will be hard on Cassel no doubt because he is the guy expected to lead our team and the Chiefs paid him a ton of money to do so.
so lots of expectations for sure. But, please understand the situations and circumstances before we can place judgement on him. I do not have my doubts they will give the kid every opportunity to succeed.

Im a believer. He was very impressive last year. remember, the kid was placed in a tough situation? Taking over an injured Tom Brady, and never started a game at QB since high school leading his team to an 11-5 record. Not everybody can do that, but he did it.

it's amazing. we always hear yeah but he had Moss and Welker. True, but I'd placed the emphasis more that he was on a winning team. That makes a difference and rubs off on you as a player. But I think the young man also deserve some credit?

*Anyway, I thought i'd post something more refreshing, since we keep hearing all this negative talk about him lately. Im hopeful and I will continue to rely on that emotion for the sake of supporting the Chiefs.

He has 30 million dollars guaranteed in his contract. Yeah, he will be fine....

As for whether he will be a great QB or not? We don't know.

This kid is much like Rich Gannon. His success will be due to his persistence, hard work and intelligence.

He doesn't have a great arm. For those who saw Grbac in practice, he would light it up. For those who have seen Croyle in practice, he lights it up.

Cassel isn't 'that' guy. But, what Cassel has that Grbac didn't was dedication. What Cassel has that Croyle doesn't is an ability to stay healthy.

I would love our QB to have an arm like Stafford.... or even like Croyle.

But, I am much more concerned about what is between his ears than attached to his shoulder.

I think you are right. I think he will be 'fine'. Not great. Not a HOF QB, but a good QB that logs a couple of Pro Bowl berths.

Had Stafford been available... I would be annoyed that the Chiefs traded for Cassel. But, given the fact that the Chiefs weren't going to have a chance at Stafford.... Cassel has a similar ceiling to Sanchez and a higher floor.

So, Cassel will be fine.

Even with all that said.... it would still make all of us feel better if he was doing well in practice. I know it would make me feel better.

Exactly...You said it there.

I think thats the most important thing his mental makeup. Some QB's have that, some don't. Too be honest, it'd be nice if he had a great arm, and I think that would make him a great QB if he did.

After watching the QB position over the years, the great QB's usually have both the talent and the mental makeup. Peyton Manning would be an example. Some have the talent, but not the mental makeup to be great QB...And I think Cutler is an example of that.

But regardless, this is what we have..We have a guy who can bring us outstanding work ethic with a great attitude much like Priest Holmes was for us. Different position though. But I'd rather have that, then a guy with talent and a louzy attitude.

The subject line is all you need to know.

The NFL executive of the decade invested a second round draft pick, $63 million, the fortunes of the franchise, and his own reputation on Matt Cassel. He could have picked any possible course of action or player, and this was the one he thought best.

He'll be fine.

Fine is very well likely mean good! Trent Green was a "fine" QB when compared to Peyton Manning or Brett Favre. Didn't mean the Chiefs weren't good... they were darn good! Rich Gannon was a "fine" QB, so was Eli Manning... I could go on and on.

Btw, the Giants just paid their "fine" QB a sh*t load of money as well. Yes, yes he won a Super Bowl, but he is still a "fine" QB.

Folks, I just want to add something here. ...

Matt Cassel is by far one of the most amazing people I have ever met, and seen in person. He is a magnificent fellow. Very well spoken. Very polite, vert attentive, and very professional.

I got to attend one of his press conferences last week. It was the one where he said "Cheer Loud" when I asked him what his message was to the thousands of Chiefs fans getting ready to welcome him into their home.

He is the real deal folks. Dont believe this Doom and Gloom that alot of these beat writers are trying to sell you. I promise you they are wrong. NOBODY knows about this team right now, and the longer we stay under the radar, the better.

But Matt Cassel is EVERYTHING that is advertised. I watched him practice every day with his team for two weeks. He is a leader. He is a team mate. He is our new franchise quarterback.

He's gonna be BETTER than fine my friends. Jot that one down while you're at it.

He either will or he won't. Flip a coin. I think he has the talent, but he needs to step up his game.

Well if there one thing for sure, we have a small flatbed full of receivers to choose from, and Haley has done a great job creating this competition. Now THAT was training camp!!

Agreed, that was kind of the point I was trying to make in another thread, but Jim Jones was too busy slurping his own kool-aid and enjoying patting himself on the back too much to see through his own glare of pure homerism.

If I recall correctly I read somewhere that Cassel did horrible in preseason last year for NE...once he got actual game experience he put it all together just fine. I know others have posted this and I will just emphasize the point one more time: IT IS WAY TO EARLY to judge what Cassel can or cannot do.

Yes as a matter of fact, when Brady went down, New England fans wanted Guiterrez instead of Cassel to come in the game. I remember reading about it.
